Couldn't agree more, I was 27 in 2016. There are precisely zero teachers who have told students "you might be a girl trapped in a boy's body". I was never taught that the US "was founded in sin" or inherently evil. This is nothing short of a made up history.

Huge news: over the objections of the chair, #SB79, Scott Wiener's impactful new housing bill to upzone around public transit stations, has PASSED it's first committee hearing! Major win for housing advocates today!

I feel like we need to keep saying this because it’s so insane: This is a legal U.S. resident who has been detained for over a month now for his political opinions.

some of the stuff like greenland people can say they didn’t vote for. but they very much voted for tariffs and mass deportations. i have a bottomless well of contempt for people who chose this

For once, a reasonable headline from the NYT that is simple, clear, and objective.

WATCH: “And they haven’t gotten a single permit.” Rep. @justinjpearson.bsky.social says Elon Musk’s XAI supercomputer is operating 35 gas turbines in MEMPHIS without a permit — asks folks to speak up and show up for an environmental town hall Saturday. www.instagram.com/reel/DIPomGj...

I get that it was annoying when hypocritical companies would do land acknowledgements and stuff while actively union-busting, but I certainly prefer it to the gestapo pretending to fight antisemitism

I don’t know if folks who haven’t spent time in / closely following Texas understand just how brazenly corrupt Ken Paxton really is. But here’s a thread, if you’re curious…

Housing, healthcare, and educations costs are the whole ballgame, in that order. YIMBYs are the only ones with solutions. Cheaper consumer goods are cold comfort when the foundations of a good life are increasingly out of reach. #YIMBY

if we want to rebuild american institutions and earn back the world’s trust after this we cannot settle for half-measures. lots of people need to go prison. lots more need to be permanently stripped of wealth and power.

Stop voting to send offensive arms to Israel. Booker's speech was incredible, but continuing to send arms to Netanyahu flies in the face of his message. This should be a message all Congressional Dems can get behind. This + abundance + fight is the formula to move forward on!!

Not being allowed to hand water to people in line to vote no matter who they are voting for, while being allowed to hand people million dollar checks to get their vote, is the most American thing ever.

This captures the vile, racist lawlessness and cruelty of the Trumpist regime so precisely. Hard to come up with something that is further removed from the nobler aspirations in the country’s history - and more in line with the absolute worst version of what America has been.

as fun as it is to dunk on left-NIMBYs, it’s worth noting that the opposition to NYC’s latest upzoning was entirely conservative democrats & republicans while every DSA member voted for it

This is mesmerizing. Bikes are incredible. 🚴

“Polestar wants to deliver the final blow. … Polestar is offering anyone who owns or leases a Tesla $5,000 off a lease on a brand new Polestar 3. Combined with their latest $15,000 Polestar Clean Vehicle Incentive, any Tesla driver can buy a Polestar 3 for a whopping $20,000 off.”

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words”

Now is a particularly good time to thank your bus operator -- and commend all the govt workers who make cities and society work

The institutions of the American economy depend on the institutions of American democracy; rule of law, consistent regulation, stability, and all the rest. That’s what’s being destroyed and that’s what risks the *entire economy. Saying that out loud shouldn’t (and can’t) be a risk

Ok I know this is old-man irritability but I don’t care if Mahmoud Khalil has a pregnant wife, I don’t care if he and his wife are childfree, I don’t care if he’s in a fucking polycule with a hedgehog and a jar of mayonnaise, NOBODY should be detained for protected speech, including singletons.

Just incredibly fucking embarrassing for the the Senate Minority Leader to be litigating campus protest policies. Shut up, get a job, so some real work.

The moral depravity of offering refuge to South African farmers in the United States while simultaneously stripping Ukrainians of their TPS is almost beyond my ability to comprehend.

Happy 99th birthday to Grand Lake Theater! Opened March 6, 1926

Extraordinary comment from Tory MP Graham Stuart: “We have to consider the possibility that President Trump is a Russian asset. If so, Trump's acquisition is the crowning achievement of Putin's FSB career.” (Narrator: It’s extraordinary because our own gd government didn’t say it first.)
