YOU ARE THE resistance the US has been waiting for. I, and others around the globe, are saying: why is the American Public, who for decades have been saying with zero irony that you have the greatest country in the world. Can you not fight for it? Civil disobedience, no? Dial it up, please.

My experience has been that they want so badly to own the tiny sphere for which 'the feminine' has been celebrated that they gate-keep. Maybe pity, but also fear and resentment.

Today is the annivesary of my younger sister's death. It's been over twenty years. My other siblings and I have grown more and more appreciative of each other since then, and particularly as we have moved into middle age. It feels like great good fortune, and also worthwhile effort.

The trvmp/mvsk administration is working quickly to dismantle numerous gov departments & agencies, to further limit rights, create concentration camps, and ICE has announced that they intend to search through social media posts for anyone saying negative things about ICE.

And it's not just unionization. My brother came home to Canada after working in the US. Employed by the same company, doing the same work, in Canada he was paid better didn't have to pay for health insurance, and he didn't need a car to get around... Public works make life better for everyone.

He's keeping Starlink. Vote Ford out. He'd throw the Mexicans under the bus if he thought he'd benefit, too. I think of him as the political equivalent of the weeping MAGA voters who only thought the Trumpists would hurt other people.

I have recently seen this argument in the comment section of a Catholic online magazine. I though it seemed very unchristian.

I just listened to this a second ago, and what he said was that the resistance appeared dead two weeks ago, and is now revived/ re-inflated. And he was speaking largely about people in the government/ agencies etc. I get that people are irritated with Klein for all the reasons listed, but...

Perhaps. But of course, the plan is to fire them all anyway. So if that's the fear, I'd rather have thrown spanners into the works before leaving, in order not to be complicit. Those who are happy to should be rubbed with poison oak.

BRICS as an alternative makes no sense. How are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa not racist/ white supremacist/ imperialist?

I sent an email to Doug Ford's office, asking that he keep the Starlink cancellation. I advise all Ontarians to do the same.

I sent an email to his office to cancel it altogether. I advise all the other Ontarians to do it, too. There's an online form.

It already has. The question is: will the right-minded Americans unite with us against him in a coordinated capacity? NATO?

It's all of a piece. The desire to re-orient from NATO to the Pacific, the desire to take control of the Northwest Passage, as the ice melts, & the Panama/ Greenland aggression is about seizing world trade routes. Complete imperialism. Your house is on fire and you are shooting the neighbours.

I've been thinking that. Isn't that why those right-wing kook militias were prepping? The US is already an autocracy, and their citizens are NOT ACTING.

I have been thinking about the flaccid political opposition in the US, and I wonder if there isn't an element of: 'let the people decide when we freak out.' That's not particularly leadership, but American citizens have been fretting, not angry... too many not understanding what they are in for.
