Heās also consistently plagued by annoyance to Pippin, and says often hurtful things to the young halfling, who isnāt even of age.
And I love how he comes to see Pippins character and worth.

Even telling Faramir that he father loves himā he doesnāt realize that Denethor is a narcissist who can only love his sons as extensions of himself.
But heāll fight like hell for Faramir or anyone else that needs justice and compassion.

He doesnāt understand that Theoden isnāt sad because he feels guilt over Theodredās death.
Heās sad because he lost his child.
Gandalf realizes heās out of his depth, and I love that about him. How he tries constantly to be what the children of Illuvatar need him to be.
