The Google AI results at the top of searches are so pointless. We have a resource (the internet!) that knows everything, and instead of going to the source, it's like you asked your stupid cousin who is trying to recall the information from a podcast he heard last week.

This has been my point for weeks about what Musk is after. Consolidated data from the biggest mine of information in the world. He’s so thirsty for data he’d get his hands on the nuclear codes if he could. Could he? www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...

The current administration is violating federal employees' HIPAA rights by requiring any work-from-home medical notes to include diagnosis and prognosis, etc. Please like but do not retweet or quote tweet.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Trump:Canada=Putin:Ukraine. Rhetorically. One more expression of Trump’s admiration for Putin. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

While many of you are likely yelling "GO USA" or "GO CANADA!" I'm yelling "GO literally any elected member of congress and the rule of law, please, anyone or a single check or a solitary balance or—

And yes, the church has, by and large, failed spectacularly at this. He is still worth following.

As Trump makes concessions to Russia, he is showing weakness on a level unprecedented in modern US history. His position is so weak that it is unlikely to convince anyone. "Operation Whirlwind" sounds like some kind of Soviet military action designed to crush a Warsaw Pact state trying to get its freedom. Because that's exactly what it was:

I did an event in IN a few weeks ago where I said that on 1/6/21 Mike Pence saved the country (for now) by being one of very very few who stood by his principles under maximum threat.

"They're putting persecuted Christian refugees in camps in the jungle" sounds like something Glenn Beck would accuse the Obama administration of doing and yet now it's a pillar of the Republican agenda.

Just when you think Donald Trump cannot sink lower or be more shameful, today he's blaming Ukraine for the war and calling Zelinsky a dictator, when he knows perfectly well that Putin's constant re-elections are put-up jobs.

This weasel actually insists it’s a “longstanding norm” that only the president or his attorney general can say “what the law is” which is, of course, absolute garbage.

“You should have never started it,” Mr. Trump said, referring to Ukrainian leaders who, in fact, did not start it. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/u...

The Trump (and Musk) cuts to the federal government are taking their toll on American institutions and the people who work for them: currentpub.com/2025/02/19/t...

Current American foreign policy is about draining power from the US and its allies, thereby creating atmospherics in which Donald Trump feels good and Elon Musk converts lost state capacity into personal profit. The weakness, in other words, is the point. snyder.substack.com/p/affirmativ...

Trump likes being #2, he likes doing the PR work, being in front of the camera, getting the adulation, but serving the boss. Musk will dominate him at home and Putin will dominate him abroad. He will deliver their lines, as he has just done for Putin in shocking fashion, and does for Musk every day.

Just FYI, after hearing my mom speak truth to a person this morning who said she didn’t believe in science or vaccines (my mom told her what happened to pregnant women who got rubella and said ‘your belief has no right to harm other people’): Science isn’t a belief and be like my mom.

These are the kinds of stories about the human costs of the Trump-Musk coup that desperately need telling right now. Local news outlets and independent journalists can do a lot of important work here, for their own communities but also for the national effort to push back against this insanity.

Re-defining “empathy” as “emotional manipulation” (or vice-versa) is emotionally manipulative. Not to mention intellectually dishonest.

After we let Russia occupy part of your country and steal your resources, we will occupy the other part and do the same. Quite the starting point for the Americans.

“I thought: America is a free country with respect for human rights,” he said. “I had no idea it was like a dictatorship.”

My thoughts on the Russian-American talks on Ukraine, without Ukraine. The simplest interpretation of the available facts is that the Americans are using Russian violence to try to exploit Ukraine. snyder.substack.com/p/peace-or-p...

Watching Trump on live TV say that Ukraine shouldn’t have started the war with Russia is another level of disturbing. Has even one Republican publicly called him on that?

Trump is simply repeating a Putin talking point here. Russia has insisted on intervening in basic issues of Ukrainian sovereignty for more than a decade. Now Trump is doing Putin’s PR work, making unsustainable arguments for an unjustifiable invasion. www.axios.com/2025/02/18/t...

Interesting email from Hulu, stating that they are going to start putting ads even in the ad-free subscription tier. I don't have that tier, but those of you that do, might want to make note of this. They shouldn't be able to advertise it as ad-free, if it's not actually ad-free. 🙃

This quote hit hard today. We can play an important role in helping others do their inner work, but no - we aren’t there to do the work for them or be their excuse not to do it.
