That’s odd, I’d say I’ve actually seen the opposite more often. People from outside the US complaining about the prevalence of US politics in social media. If I point out they should care about the stability of a global military and economic power they just get annoyed.

Worked for a global corporation a long time ago. Accidental reply-alls would always garner a bunch of responses before HR inevitably sent out a notice that any further replies would be grounds for discipline.
There’s a lesson about social media in there somewhere.
