Bonus fact, apparently seals don't actually build up CO2 when holding their breath which is why they need an alternate monitoring method.

For everyone who didn't read the article, humans detect they are suffocating by the buildup of CO2 which is a by-product of breathing. Seals can directly detect the amount of O2 in their blood. Actually quite a different mechanism and kind of interesting.

Fun fact, they are a subsidiary of constellis previously known as Academi, formerly known as blackwater. So in a sense Elon musk has hired blackwater to keep democratically elected Congress people out of federal buildings, which is very cool and not dystopian in the least.
