He's French- Canadian and sometimes his accent gets in the way and this was the second thing he said this week that had the lunchroom laughing. The last thing he was talking about was weed-wackers and he kept calling them weed- whippers.

The deeper meaning behind "almost no healthy children die of the measles" is that, when children do die of the measles, it's only ever because they were already ill. And the deeper meaning behind that is "well, we can't save 'em all." And that's just...17th century thinking.

Thanks for the correction, I looked at dates, but not thoroughly enough, apparently. I probably should have phrased my post to say that the word gained widespread popularity online after MeToo. There was a knee-jerk switch on the internet, but I wasn't aware the word was yet another theft of AAVE.

I used to see women use thot to refer to themselves as a self-empowering version of "ho" but with men I've really only seen it used as derogatory stand- in for slut. I can't say I've seen anyone use it in ages except the loser in the video.

Thanks for the correction. I tried to find origin dates and everything I found for the common usage of thot was around a year after the start of the # MeToo movement but it was a pretty cursory search on my part.
