It just shows you have a diverse set of interests. Just because you haven't had time to dive into and explore them yet doesn't mean you won't someday.

If you ever code for the fed, make sure you name every critical variable `DEI` or `transgender`

So petty and stupid. Find and replace isn't going to erase us. They can't erase us.

Hope is infectious and self propagating. Hope is a heavy burden. Carry it proudly and watch as others come to help you lift the weight.

I hate that attitude. Devs who do that stuff aren't helpful. If they don't have the resources or bandwidth to help they should just say that.

Oh! It's the Windows curly quotes! That's probably just an overlap with where the curly single quote is in Windows-1252 onto extended ASCII

I wonder why your apostrophe is showing up as an "Æ"? That particular mojibake looks familiar...

I wish nothing but love and prosperity for the nation of Canada and the free world at large. As an American trans woman, the bullies who are in charge of this disaster are trying to erase me. Not sure why I should respect the laws or soverignty of a nation that denies my right to exist.

This is what people should be talking about, not lumping Starbucks into the discourse around trump DEI bs. That isn't accurate and doesn't help anyone.

I do think it will hurt their business overall, because there's been plenty of instances of me walking into a sbux to use the restroom and walking out with a latte, and I don't think I'm alone in that. I recently visited the sbux on the harbor in Seattle, and it was not a very inviting space.

[3] Specifically, the change eliminates their public restrooms and requires folks who are using their space to be purchasing customers. This isn't great for homeless folks who depended on these public restrooms, but it is Starbucks' perogative as a private business to establish these limits.

[2] The changes that Starbucks is making, while I don't think are particularly great, aren't directly related to any sort of corporate policy on diversity and inclusion, but are rather a knee-jerk reaction to a perceived public threat to their business model.

[1] It seems the angst is arising from the discussion surrounding Starbucks' change to its Code of Conduct for customers. In particular, a WSJ op-ed pointing to the change and asking, "Is their DEI program in jeopardy?" is being misconstrued as "Starbucks cancels DEI programs."

I guess I need to be careful not to let my empathy slip away with my anger. In retrospect you deserved a more measured response. Sorry I threw my ire at you.
