Hopefully you do a review of the Switch 2 and compare it Switch 1 lcd + oled, as well as the steam deck lcd, maybe other PC handhelds like the lenovo legion go S, just to see how the Switch 2s screen and speakers compare.

Yes, it dont have the true blacks and pop of an OLED. but it is not a bad screen. It about the quality of a mid range tablet. A $449 device is not going to be top of the range. Dont forget a base ipad is $349 with half the RAM and storage, no joycons, dock or charger.

Are you and John gonna play oblivion, one playing the original and the other playing the remastered, and you talk about the teck, history of the the 2 different versions and show the differences between them? hope you do, loved the one with half life 2 path traced.

Gaming is great today, but does this kind of show that games today dont really push it to the next level like oblivion did back in the day? Ive played Oblivion remake for the 1st time and its seems just as "next gen" as games releasing today.

Look forward you and the DF team thoughts on all the Switch news. Im very pleased, surprised by the 120hz 1080p HDR VRR Screen. The visuals look great. I always expected it to trade blows with the steamdeck, which is fine for a handheld system with 2-6hr battery life.

.. however subconsciously a lack of music may effect me more then I realise. I know in Halo infinite I really enjoy the sound effects and surround effects. I never really think about game music apart from listening to the radio in GTA or the score of the uncharted and mental gear games.

The best Doom: TDA preview Ive seen, it really got me excited for the game where other previews didnt explain all the systems and features. No music being present didn't seem to bad in the gameplay section you showed because the sound effects are really quite stimulating..

I guess the difference is that PS360 were still a big jump generally over PS2/XBOX games, e.g san Andreas to GTA4, MGS2 to MGS4, Call of duty 2 big red one to call of duty 4 etc etc.

Yes, its an apples to oranges comparison. It would make more sense to compare Avowed to games like the outer worlds or even the far more expensive Fallout 4 or witcher 3.

I have Hellblade 2 as number 1. Reason is Indiana's lower and not that impressive geometric density,facial models and skin shader tech, Hellblade 2 is literally a gen ahead in those areas.

great list, introducing me to different games. I like metroid prime remastered, which is similar to astro in that it doesn't have a deep story and is gameplay focus, so maybe I will like Astro to if the gameplay is as good.

Nothing. but it all depends on who's opinions you use. If everyone who owned steam/switch/xbox/playstation had to do a mandatory vote for the GOTY , the results would likely be different.

The reality is that apart from Mario, 3d platformers are a stale genre these days. They just dont sell that well. The people have moved on from the formula.

God of war winning over RDR2 demonstrates how much of sham the game awards are. RDR2 is significantly better than GOW 2018.

..It will be an impressive optimisation effort but overall I dont think it puts Naughty ahead of other talented Developers. I think Gears E day will be just as impressive at 60fps or GTA6 but in different ways.

Intergalactic's visuals dont surprise me. RT reflections and shadows at 60fps and 4k? I watched some cinematics from TLOU2 remastered on a base PS5 and the visuals are rather close. So Intalgalatics visuals dont seem far fetched...

..I guess MGS2s simplicity and art design really do work to its advantage. Its certainly a better use of the PS2. Gears and UE3 were trying to do a lot of things which resulted in it being ugly, but on the other hand there are some shots in gears which clearly have more detail and better lighting.

I get what you mean, but I dont think it has to be an either or. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I wonder what MGS2 would look like if it were remade by epic in 2006 with UE3 on 360 hardware and vice versa for gears of war made on a PS2 with kojima tech..

kinda a problem with most games of that generation. At the time Gears was a big deal for visuals. Yes it has a dull colour palette but it is a war game. gears 1 still looks acceptable even playing on a 360. I enjoy PS2 and Xbox games on a CRT today,but I wouldn't say they are better looking than GOW

Thats an Environment and art preference. Technically though its quite superior to PS2/XBOX games. This is demonstrated with games with similar art style and environment, like the original Killzone on the PS2.

Love Naughty Dog, but I remember when their visuals would surpass everything else. Thats not the case anymore. As a trailer its about as good as the Guardians of galaxy trailer, but im more hyped because of ND's track record. The only praise echo chambers about this trailer are so cringe.

You could play it on Geforce now or gamepass streaming. Or get a cheap graphics card or a SeriesS/X

If Microsoft's handheld is basically a handheld SeriesS It will do quite well because it will be a handheld which can play the entire gen9 Xbox library.

Im surprised it is using RTGI. While the environments look very good, the way skin reacts to light looks very last gen. Good news though.
