Man, when I see posts like this I really wonder if folks such as this actually care about games or if they're in this for something else? I'm really bummed to see so many people attacking such a wonderful, heartfelt game like Astro Bot. That a JP developed platform game could win is amazing to me!

Like, The Witcher 3 had NOT sold 50 million copies by the time it won GOTY in 2015.
And because of that, they grown to care more about what numbers mean than what words mean...
If we measure a games quality, look into how it was received. If you compare Black Myth WuKong with the other GOTY nominees this year, you'll see it was the lowest ranked game.
I have already had a irl friend with no gaming knowledge ask about Astro Bot and whether it is worth picking up.
It's Twitter, where negative engagement is the name of the game.
On these stats, also worth noting that Astro Bot is obviously the newest game on this list, putting it at a severe disadvantage to The Witcher III and BotW.
Also, stop screen shotting twitter posts for your BSKY engagement.
2) I basically never do that - just this one time, really, and mostly just to launch into discussion about this topic. I apologize nonetheless, though.
2) Fair enough, I see it a lot over here. I just don't want to give those people air.
Goty brings out the weirdos and that site highlights em
How is it eligible for GOTY when it's barely in the Top 30? I don't see other niche games as nominees for GOTY. So how got it nominated in the first place?
It's obvious that TGA is just a marketing event with paid awards 🤷♂️
Completely rediculous to compare current sales of games vs Astrobot after less than a year.
I turned my PS5 on, handled him my controller and let him played three levels:
-the tree
-the mices
-the octopus boss
He had so much fun he wants to buy a PS5 now.
I wish the fanboy stuff would just die a death.

So, with all do respect, for your and our mental health, don't screenshot them and post them here. It is not worth discussing.
However if the replies are along the lines of "low sales = no one cares it's stupid that it won" then THAT is a different story....
But what I've seen and heard it is an amazing game and definitely deserved the award. Incredible creative game
I’m sure Team Asobi could make something incredible but this game could have been made by any PlayStation team.
It’s like these people think monetary success is the end all be all as if shitty games and movies don’t make a ton of money all the time
Even if said port has as little day-1 players like Sackboy or LEGO Horizon, both arguments would be rendered null: quality =/= sales
But apparently it's pushing gaming forward so what do I know
Good game, but GOTY shouldn't be awarded upon where it was made. And truth is Lies of P did it better 🫢
Still, yeah people are being unhinged about Astro Bot. They're literally just mad it's Sony and not Wukong.
I do think we'll see a bit of a shift in priorities due to the huge failure of big budget titles this year and the success of smaller projects. It does feel like there's been an attitude shift this year to me
