i mean, if you were a nation state determined to up-end order in the UK and other countries in Europe, what you would probably want to do is have the Tories behave in a way that allowed Reform to become the default 2nd party and challenge for goverment next election backed up by dark money and SM

what are google doing? Presumably they have been asked for some similar breaking of encryption?

Good innit. You're not alone, and this is a relatively recent update, the original ones didn't. Handy though, especially with game pass streaming in a browser on a low power device

there's a browser plug in called "sky follower bridge" which you can use to help track down folks you like on Twittter and see if they're on bluesky. Not perfect but I found it handy!

I haven't missed the bad place since I started using bluesky tbh, which I was surprised by. I used a tool to delete all my posts, likes, retweets etc before deactivating my account as I might need to travel to the US at some point and screw having my opinions stored on Musk's platform.

I don't think they actually care at all about trans people as an issue. I think it's a convenient topic to use to manufacture controversy in exchange for power at the expense of democracy and trans people's right to exist. It's horrifying.

This is a very simplistic take. TikTok as a Chinese-owned influencing platform that captures incredible amounts of profiling data on every user is a danger to countries China might want to exert influence on. Most US-owned social media platforms are similar but working for oligarchs.

I think it started with clicks being monetised, then social media and new media realising that "engagement" was more profitable than truth. This created a foundation where truth doesn't matter and perceptions can be manipulated.

We seem to be in that weird time where Labour recognise power of disinformation from far right (see journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10.... ) but aren't articulating it in public, instead they're trying to placate the billionaire oligarchy to avoid being destroyed by disinformation armies of Musk et al

I am willing to bet that countries that ban 'murrican "free speech" will get hit with trade blockers/tariffs so banning it / attempting to impose restrictions for UK users might not be so easy. What he could and should do is call out the dangerous impact of manufactured outrage at the very least.

Do you still need a USB-C PD charger to power them, and USB-C PD compatible cables, or can you power these off any USB socket that can deliver enough wattage?
comment in response to post
oh that's cool, like tiny specific buck converters. Had mixed results with USB-PD for powering things, probably due to a combination of chargers/cables - have only really tried with a 20V portable projector in my camper van and ended up using a laptop 12V USB PD charger but those are really neat!

ooh that's neat. Car head unit powered by USB-C PD, nifty!

one challenge I foresee is that if Trump decides that any nation that blocks "free speech" on platforms such as X is subject to tariffs or other trade blockers then this is going to get very painful...
