woman in the café next to me is eating a croissant with a knife and fork, does anyone have a direct personal number for Emmanuel Macron

Ireland’s neutrality is widely regarded as absurd and complacent

This is a good call. Too early to say that peace negotiations have failed since they haven't properly begun, but if Trump has understood that Zelensky can't just be coerced, the whole plan falls apart and Trump looks weak.

Peace negotiations have failed, and now he is turning the MAGA public on Ukraine. It's really quite diabolical.

🚨 NEW: Kemi Badenoch acknowledges the existence of the Lib Dems - Considers them a “protest party for mainly people on the left” - "They are not on Twitter, but they are in local communities" - "They will destroy the whole country..." Transcript from DailyWire interview with Jordan Peterson 👇

Expeditionary warfare, with small professional troops and equipment to fit the crisis management tasks, was NATO’s post-Cold War doctrine. Led and implemented by the US. Europeans should have done more since 2014 but complaining about the small size of European militaries is a bad faith argument.

Brief thoughts on a European force for Ukraine. I think there is a degree of requirements paralysis. It doesn’t have to be hundreds of thousands of troops, or cover a 1200km contact line. Where it is deployed, and in what role, is more important than the overall size. 1/

An additional reason for the sort of moves I outline below is that it's important for Europe to take the strategic initiative, and fast.

Pretty disturbed by some of the Kremlin framing on the Trump talks being bought by parts of the media worldwide. It’s as if the genesis of the war is entirely forgotten. This isn’t a conflict which needs mediation. It was an unprovoked act of aggression. It could end tomorrow if Putin just withdrew.

The way democracy functions has shifted. The internet has changed it forever. There is no going back. The Trump administration understands this. And the only way to beat them is to accept this, as well. Happy President's Day. www.garbageday.email/p/you-can-ne...

Rant incoming: 🧵 Scholz says is it “premature” to discuss the possibility of European troops in Ukraine. This is, sorry, really bad strategy and communication. Is it premature to *announce* troop? Yes of course! We don’t know the situation, the possible deal etc. (1)

I fear that this will not only be about Ukraine. But about a larger deal on European security architecture and a new US relationship with Russia. Trump and Putin share interests when it comes to American troop presence in Europe, withdrawal of US capabilities, NATO enlargement… They can go big.

It is INSANE that journalists are writing little sketches about Trump’s threats towards Canada. Have you lost your minds? Is this all just a bit of fun? It reveals a complete lack of understanding of how America is now acting towards longstanding allies.

Wherever possible please buy your books directly from authors and/or publishers. Even ebooks (then Amazon can't delete them either). We make a better cut and you get the same thing or better, plus Bezos and ilk don't get richer. Win win win.

I’m not sure the rest of the country fully grasps the panic and anger building in DC, MD, and VA. The entire economy of this area is about to collapse. Paychecks are stopping. Careers are ruined. Taxes are about to plummet. Yet no one seems able to stop this madness.
