He is on Bluesky - his handle is theonecalledjai. And my concern isn’t really about the boycott; it’s about the platform boost he’s getting FROM the boycott, and the fact that he’s using that platform to raise money. The more folks who boost the boycott, the more $ he makes. I have concerns.

I’ve also read the website, so it sounds like we know about the same amount of information.

When a previously unknown white man with no credentials or qualifications steps alone to the center of the stage and says, “FOLLOW ME, I KNOW THE WAY,” my instinct is to run the opposite direction, but I’m seeing a LOT of folks excitedly posting about this group/boycott. What am I missing? 3/3

He appears to have no background in activism or community organization. TPU lists no operating board or officers. He’s following no activists on social media, his feed is all about TPU/the boycott/his own thoughts, and his linktree only shows his mindfulness products. I’m… wary. 2/3

I think Mark was always set up to be Woe, since we meet him grieving in both lives (Gemma as an outie, Petey as an innie). And I think Irving is Dread because he was initially so afraid to step a toe out of line & was haunted by dreams. Plus Mark’s wife is tied up in the intrigue—Woe’s Bride?

I swipe away so fast 😂. My algorithm just knows I like dogs and am very neurodivergent. Also it thinks I like books but isn’t sure (which is why I am bad at being an author on TikTok)

Ah I have not been on there — I’m always really wary about engaging with the dedicated fandom spaces because that’s how I get spoiled for things and I hate that 😂

I’ve spent way too much time thinking about this 😂

Some definitely do this, but we’re almost always able to get through to ours, and I’d been able to leave a voicemail earlier in the day. My point was it was open in the morning and full by the afternoon.

No, they’re all GOP, sadly.

Something about the constitution not prohibiting billionaires from working in the government??? It was a very nonsensical argument.

I feel like IIRC this type of almost-but-not-quite-the-expression was a running gag on Perfect Strangers? And also comedies about actual aliens like Mork and Mindy or 3rd Rock From the Sun. Yet ironically I don’t think we have a name for it.

There needs to be a term for the uncanny valley of words, like when you get close enough that people know what you mean, but something about it just doesn’t feel quite right.

Tomorrow I will legitimately not be able to tell for certain if this is real or a dream

I haven’t seen every show about publishing, but I’m still confident that this is the show that is the wrongest about publishing

“Historical studies suggest that it takes 3.5% of a population engaged in sustained nonviolent resistance to topple brutal dictatorships.” But “sustained nonviolent resistance” requires more than just posting angrily on social media. It’s time to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
