New England just missed a power interruption caused by gas facility unreliability but solar power from homes and businesses helped save the day. www.rtoinsider.com/108892-extre...

This is really important to understand. Some of the people “bending the knee to Trump” are in fact doing what they feel they must to protect people and institutions they love from the vast (and increasingly unreviewable) power of the President of the United States.

They can use fake numbers right up until they have to face the debt limit. They can’t fake that number, so that’s where to look. It’s $5 trillion. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

A friend is telling me that NYPD has blocked off all of Prospect Park West which is where @schumer.senate.gov lives and where an Indivisible protest was planned for today. Both sides of the block have police barricades up, no foot or car traffic

I know Don Bacon mostly for his ties to Omaha-area neo-Nazis. But to CNN he's a "centrist."

It is damning of so many institutions in the US that not only did Trump face no accountability for an attempted coup but also that he was rewarded for it by getting back in office to pardon the insurrectionists and fire the prosecutors www.huffpost.com/entry/justic...

Clay Bennett, Chattanooga Times Free Press

NYC Comptroller Brad Lander: "I don't think the line for the [Democratic] party right now is between progressives and moderates; I think it's between fighters and folders."

IT WAS NOT ONLY ABOUT "THE BABIES OF SLAVES". The citizenship of free Black people was a big issue. Un-gated short article here:

“Politics is the only shared pastime, which is why American life feels miserable, because the stakes are so high, and the quality of programming so low.” 🔥🔥🔥

"For the child born this summer in Texas, whose parents receive no documents, whose name never appears in any system, and who grows up asking why she can’t go on field trips, apply for scholarships, or open a bank account, the consequences are not legal theory. They are her life."

fuck the supreme court

god damn he's cooking

The official position of the Roberts Court is that Republican presidents are allowed to ignore parts of the Constitution they don't like, and that it would be extremely inappropriate for federal judges to do anything about it ballsandstrikes.org/scotus/trump...

I'm pretty sure the momentum behind fascism at this point is such that it will only be stopped by Taiwan style protests -- hundreds of thousands in the streets, every day for weeks, months -- and I look around and ... I just don't see a populace prepared for that.

I just can’t get over how broken the federal courts are as a result of today’s ruling. Citizenship depending on which county your in? The president openly ignoring the Constitution, knowing the victims can’t enforce their rights? A million potential federal plaintiffs with trivial claims?

Obvious now why Trump privately thanked Roberts so profusely when they crossed at the State of the Union in the interaction caught on 3rd party video. Thanks for putting him there and for the new granted powers to come.

“We’re the good guys,” I tell myself as a 6-year-old leukemia patient pees his pants in fear. I adjust my black mask and sunglasses in the mirror, making sure to hide my identity. “I am not evil,” I whisper.

Make no mistake: In all but nullifying nationwide, “universal” injunctions in these cases, where a uniform rule of law for birthright citizenship is gravely needed, the Supreme Court chose chaos. Yes, the right still exists. But a lot of needless confusion, fear, and litigation lie ahead.

@gavinnewsom.bsky.social on his $787 million lawsuit against Fox: "It's a defamation lawsuit... Their news organization, from John Roberts to Jesse Watters, knowingly misstated facts... It was so blatant, so gratuitous that I felt compelled to push back against this propaganda network."

There will be much more to say but for now, as @isabelaalhadeff.bsky.social notes, SCOTUS is further, and recklessly, empowering Trump www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

This is the line from the horrific SCOTUS decision today that will stick with me. “Sure, the president should follow the law - but the courts can’t force him to do it.” Rendering the Constitution a dead letter if the president decides he’d rather not deal with it.

Good for Newsom! As the old saying goes, "one, two, many Dominions."

Party of Death

Republicans are about to decree that 2+2 = 7 and the NY Times describes it as merely an “upend” of accounting standards

this is terrifying but I am somehow a little bit heartened to see them taking this stand

'You gonna let him die?' Agents pile on protester, who convulses and struggles to breathe

New in PN: Trump's secret police are terrorizing American streets "The scenes of aggressive, masked agents roughing people up are reminiscent of the world’s most authoritarian regimes, where police and the military act with impunity against citizens."

always have to remember the right will get hysterical over every issue of the day it does not matter about validity or truth it is all about feeding their constant outrage machine

Senator Gillibrand called on Al Franken to resign. I think she should resign for falsely smearing Zohran Mamdani as a terrorist. He has never invoked a ‘global jihad’. This is a nasty, Islamophobic racist smear from a sitting Dem senator.

I wonder if Gillibrand will ever apologize for this blatant lie. To my mind, Mamdani should sue her for defamation. It's very hard for a politician to win a defamation case, but Gillibrand's lie is pretty extreme and despicable.

Bill Kristol is more normal about Mamdani than Jake Tapper this genuinely says a lot about society

From Churchill to Starmer, every PM has bowed to Washington. Now we’re stuck watching global lawlessness unfold, unable to protest because we outsourced our backbone.

✍️ Did Donald Trump steal the 2024 election? A legal challenge in New York could reveal the truth behind allegations that last year’s election result was “consistent with vote manipulation”

Choosing this headline and framing and photo gives the impression that the University of Virginia President is behaving scandalously, not the Trump administration. Hard to conclude that's not what the New York Times believes when they (someone! - who?) make those three decisions!

White House Deputy Press Secretary now claims that this representation—made by a Justice Department attorney in federal court just a few hours ago—is “fake news.”

wait didn’t the Black guy Trump hates already do this and didn’t Trump say it was bad www.cnn.com/2025/06/26/p...

Check to see how much AIPAC money old Kirsten gets. That explains why she is so glib with her racist Islamophobia.

Gillibrand and Ogles are both despicable racists. A multiethnic, multiracial, working class movement is remaking US politics and will defeat both of them and the bigotry they each represent

Dems rolling over

What’s really annoying is that after a storm devastates the US coast, people will blame NOAA for not having the data.

NEWS: Kenneth Chesebro, "architect" of the 2020 fake electors plot who pleaded to criminal charges in Georgia, has been disbarred from the practice of law in New York, per order issued today by New York appellate court.

the way calling for the deportation of any visible non-white person is rapidly becoming normalized is a huge cause for concern.

Trump now tied with Modi but still behind Xi in the competition to kill Canadians

ICE just murdered a Canadian.

What a galactic fucking disappointment Gillibrand turned out to be.

Chris Cuomo had a meltdown on his NewsNation show over his brother losing the NYC mayoral primary. This chyron has me laughing, though: DEVELOPING STORY: CHRIS' FATHER IS FMR. NY GOV. MARIO CUOMO
