Speaking of Peter’s family, remember Tessa Parker having a semi-resurgence during the 2016-2019 era and then they just kinda forgot she existed for the Wells run? They should bring Tessa back. But like with a writer who gives a shit lmao.

Him and Ock were the standout villains in YFNSM, especially Ock i fucking love that loser lmao

I adored the conversation between Reed and Sue, Pedro absolutely nails the somber regret he has for causing their lives to change. And Vanessa plays off that perfectly. It reminded me of this from Waid’s run

Diamond delaying Prime’s issues because of their bankruptcy screwing over their own employees *and* multiple other comic publishers is fucking criminal because Prime just gets *better* and better with each issue.

Pairing these up cause i figured it fits. Storm’s solo series really just *elevates* with each issue. And 4 might take the title for best solo issue of this year. This is the kinda story that Storm deserves and M. Ayodele delivers it perfectly with some of the best art i’ve ever seen by L. Werneck

HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. JED DOES NOT FUCKING MISS.

I fucking *love* how they’re approaching Mei’s style of leadership for the Ultimate X-Men here. The team on UXM really nailed on emulating the core themes of X-Men, but reframing them on this new environment. And Mei and Hisako’s growth showcase this distinction beautifully.

You know i actually really like how they made Kwannon different from Betsy here with her solo series. And its making her extremely similar to Jack from MGRR lmao. Wong makes it work and the absolute stellar art sells it.

Kelly Thompson i will never question your books for i have seen when you lock in, you lock in like never before and holy shit.

Taking a backseat after Graymalkn and focusing on the Outliers was a good move. Especially with giving the focus to Ransom cause i think outta everyone he definitely needed the spotlight here.
comment in response to post
You’d think Hickman would at least find one issue where his amount of locking in isn’t as prevalent but at that point he locks in even further. Thats how good USM is. No i wont elaborate further.

Iron Man had some seriously good fucking art this week, but i also very much enjoyed how Spencer approached Tony and Riri. Tony is grizzled and analytical. But Riri is more passionate and ready to jump. And its a dynamic that really plays into each others strengths.

Like the biggest “fuck you” to ever give this entire administration is just ensuring he doesn’t even finish the full term.

If there’s one takeaway, its this. Conservatives will always rally together every time to vote their candidate. No matter their qualifications. We have to vet our candidates before even considering if its worth voting them.

A real “consequence” to Biden’s piss-poor handling of Gaza would’ve been if dems kept the senate and house majority but Trump only got the white house. But nah, Gaza is well and truly fucked. But go ahead, sharing those snarky political cartoons about “both sides bad” will fix things.
comment in response to post
We’ve now had three elections that taught us that sitting out and calling both sides bad and not doing anything is a stupid fucking thing to do.

Dylan being Paul’s number 1, 2, and 3 biggest hater is funny. You can tell Ewing fucking hates having him on the book and is just letting Dylan run his mouth lmao.

Okay Kyle Higgins and Matt Groom are handling the event this might be good.
comment in response to post
I feel like this event screams “we can probably slot in something extra while everyone else is paying attention to OWUD and Ultimate Incursion”

One thing i absolutely adore is the fourth wall breaks where each of the main characters get to talk with the reader with how they’re feeling. It reminds me so much of theater monologues, its so seamless too.

The emphasis on a smaller cast allows for a lot of really fleshed out dynamics, cause of course Emma wants the kids to be trained to defend themselves. She witnessed two genocides of mutants. She is not ready to lose any more.

And thats it! I’ll be back at the end of the month with the pulls for the last two weeks. Been a pretty hectic month. But a great time for comics!
comment in response to post
This series more than anything pushes the needle for how much Spider-Man’s backstory can change and still incorporate what makes the character. Because this issue more than anything changed a huge aspect for Peter’s background.

Now, while i love how Schultz wrote Laura and Elektra’s dynamic in this issue. There were certain bits that felt like a regression for Laura for how she’d approach a situation. But at the moment. Ima just let the arc play out and see what Schultz has to cook.

If i had a nickel every time Colossus showed up as a villain in a comic in the same month i’d have two nickels. Which isn’t much but it’s weird its happened twice. (Issue’s great, Alessandro is just showcasing how godtier his art is)
comment in response to post
And if i said Exceptional X-Men was the best FTA title. Because its priority to keep the cast small, focus on each member each issue, and keeping the stakes low has made every single issue Exceptional (i know), Eve Ewing your game is immaculate.

Tied with Magik this is one of the best issues of this month currently. How things played out differently, how Bruce evolved as Batman. It was all so well done.
comment in response to post
I am sorry for doubting you DWJ after issue 15, i should never doubt you, for when you lock in. You LOCK. THE. FUCK. IN.
comment in response to post
While this was a good conclusion to the second arc. I am unfortunately gonna stick with trades for this one, purely to maintain space lmao.
comment in response to post
Honestly i think raid of graymalkin definitely suffered the worse with Uncanny. Gail’s writing remains stellar when its not directly tied to making the X-Men fight. But i think this book more than anything reinforces how stronger the teams are narrative wise when they’re separate.
comment in response to post
Okay now THIS is honestly one of the best issues this month, Ashley Allen deserves all the praise and more because the way she writes Magik, how she acts reinforces just how strong her solo potential is. And she nailed it with the writing here. Peralta’s art is amazing and compliments the writing.

Absolute Superman was the one Absolute title i was very apprehensive about, but needless to say issue 3 fully won me over with what Aaron is cooking, and I’m very excited to see where it goes.
comment in response to post
Betsy and Rachel’s whole relationship continues to be great and this issue focusing on how their dynamic works is a treat to see. And as for the end i got a joke but im not there yet.
comment in response to post
Wasn’t sure about Elementary, but this issue being just her, Miles, and Peter being involved in a weird ass adventure oddly fit the book. Suffice to say this issue won me over lmao.

America is quickly becoming my favorite out of the Ultimates roster, the way Camp writes her as an optimist that knows a better future is possible is just so good.

Been loving Magik, but i’ve been meaning to get Batgirl. I hope it’s next to get a compact comics treatment

If there is one thing i want in life its for the Median Voter to never be allowed to vote cause they are some of the dumbest motherfuckers in the planet.

And thats it! My final comics impressions of 2024! I’m looking to downsize my pulls next year. So I’ll be putting out more in depth reviews for those single issues!
comment in response to post
Forgot to include this in the lineup but holy shit I’ve been loving Power Rangers Prime but also god DAMNIT diamond comics for delaying the shit out of this issue.
comment in response to post
I was a bit unsure of what to make of Absolute Wonder Woman after issue 2 left me cautious, but i have to say when *that* reveal happened i learned to shut up my dumb mouth and trust the plan with Thompson. I apologize Kelly i wasn’t familiar with your game.
