It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

In the depths of the Nebraskan winter, 2400 people came out to listen to Bernie Sanders in Omaha last night. 800 had to be turned away at the door. Over 190,000 tuned into the livestream. There is a movement to be harnessed here. @sanders.senate.gov (📸 Anna Bahr)

It'd be awesome if @whitehouse.senate.gov asked Attorney General Bondi if she has issued some kind of finding that foreign donations are cool now, so long as they're covered up nicely. www.emptywheel.net/2025/02/22/p...

If any of our former NATO or Five Eyes allies have intelligence data and assessments, which surely they must, about the background of the leader of their new strategic adversary, the United States, now is as good a time as any to release them, subject to protection of methods and sources, of course.

Much of the chaos of the past few weeks can be understood as part of the Trump administration’s "central ideological project: restoring America’s traditional hierarchies of race and gender.” Call it the “Great Resegregation."

Dear @cnn.com, The judge did not “vacate” the trial. He adjourned it. Then he appointed an amicus curiae to argue against dismissing the charges. Who writes your headlines?

We are arms dealers to terrorists.

Demand your GOP congressman cut their budget and lay off some staff. Congress spends 6.4billion/year on their own operations.

The 'find out' phase is here.

“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” A classic quote from Malcolm X, who was assassinated 60 years ago today.

ProPublica has released another study related to the effects of abortion bans in the U.S., this time showing a spike in sepsis cases in Texas following the implementation of that state's "heartbeat" abortion ban in 2021.

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

There’s something happening in this country.

For 38 years, PRAMS has collected critical data on maternal-child health with the goal to reduce infant morbidity and mortality. CDC has officially halted the 2024 PRAMS data collection for the participating 46 states and the future is uncertain.

The City of Boston is leading 40+ mayors, cities, and counties in an amicus brief against the Trump Administration's drastic and illegal cuts to federal research funding—cuts that will lead to immediate job losses nationwide.

They were only off by about $231 million.

A new government tracker claims DOGE has saved billions from ending federal contracts. But an NPR analysis of the data finds the claimed savings don't add up.

So if you criticize Elon Musk, Trump’s DOJ will send you this letter. Members of Congress must have the right to forcefully oppose the Trump Administration. I will not be silenced.

I've read most of the analyses of the DOGE 2025 "receipts" site. This, from NPR, is the best I've read so far. Some of what they claim to have cut haven't been cut, other "cuts" will incur costs down the road. NPR says DOGE has made $2B of cuts, not $55B. www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the original American patriots fought a fucking Revolutionary War to liberate ourselves from the rule of a king. This ain't the flex he thinks it is.

Former 🇺🇸 ambassador to Russia 👇🏽

JB Pritzker in today's state of the state very explicitly compared what's happening with Trump to the rise of Nazis: "We don’t have kings in America—and I don’t intend to bend the knee to one. I am not speaking up in service to my ambitions—but in deference to my obligations."

Honest question for Elon: What explanation would you like me to give my constituents who rely on this program? Or the other 9/11 families? Because I'm about to get in my car and drive wherever the hell you are right now to find out myself. This makes me sick.

Proud to join almost 1,000 other DOJ alumni supporting those who are standing up for the non-partisan administration of law. The oath we all took is to uphold the Constitution, not to advance a president’s political agenda. www.thejusticeconnection.org/wp-content/u...

Welcome back, Cathy.

On Monday, thousands of protesters across the country hit the streets to tell Donald Trump and Elon Musk “No kings on Presidents’ Day” in response to the barrage of alarming actions—from legally questionable executive orders to mass firings—taken by the administration since the inauguration.

Egg prices are up 53% compared to last year and the spread of bird flu is a major reason why. How has Trump responded? By letting DOGE fire thousands of federal employees across the CDC, NIH, FDA, and the USDA who could respond to this outbreak.

JUST IN: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has fired at least 20 employees who were involved in reviewing Elon Musk's brain implant company, Neuralink. -CNBC

Happening now: it's 1°F outside in Chicago—a literal frozen hellscape. Furious EPA workers with AFGE Local 704 are rallying against the Trump/Musk evisceration of the federal workforce targeting new hires. Recently fired employees include those responsible for monitoring air & water quality.

Is Musk demanding the data held by the Social Security Administration in order to make it more efficient? Unlikely. Here's a better explanation: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...
