It's the fact your characters act like they live in that world that makes it real, not the worldbuilding.

Good. But it’s not enough. Keep shouting. We should never simply accept this partial effort. We should only accept a full pull back on the freeze, no exceptions! Be vigilant. Keep shouting. Make your voice heard.

So here’s my thought: I’m not asking anyone to trust these people. I’m not asking you to take them into your hearts. But. My personal plan is when someone tells me this, to tell them that they were lied to, and I’m sorry that happened, and they deserve a better leader.

I just called my House Rep and Senate and chewed the fuck out of them after reading a script. This is such a huge violation of democracy. Be loud. BE LOUD. Call the Capitol switchboard to be directed to your reps: 202-224-3121 (Thank you to celestepewter for this script)

Gratitudes: Day 557 • the power and majesty of church organs • tenor solos sung so beautifully they make you weep • naps

The best thing to do today is to turn on your TVs to something else—sports, nature, anything that’s not a news network. This is the best way to tank the ratings/viewership: a TV on, and tuned in to something else. I’ll have Animal Planet on on mute while I go about my day and catch up on reading.

No, you are mistaken, you do not see me working on a Saturday… 👀👩🏼‍💻

More and more it feels like the simple act of treating other people decently is a legitimate act of rebellion. Which is ridiculous if you think about it.

I wanted to share the title of my next book, out in October 2025: THE ISLE IN THE SILVER SEA.

The gem of a theory that garlic is to cooking as vanilla extract is to baking in that the amount you add to your food is guided by reckless extravagance and utter disregard, verging on mild contempt for the recipe as written.

🐭 update: pest control came. He was impressed I managed to get the guy outside. Among his other tasks, the Pest Control Guy awarded Rossetti with a Master Scout honor 😂 “She may not be a mouser, but she’s a great scout! Listen to her!” Good job, Rossetti!

Rossetti was looking underneath the oven and our furniture this morning with bizarre determination. She started doing this Wednesday night and it resulted in finding a lost toy, so I thought maybe she was hunting for more of that.

I was so wrapped up in my first day back from break email explosion that I GASPED looking outside just now! It snowed?!!! This blew away the Monday blues!

A small town in Germany turns its town hall into the 'world's largest' advent calendar each December. It started as a way to boost businesses in the winter, but it's grown to mean much more.
