This is a fantastic point that I used to make when I worked in software, to not much avail. Want a social media example? Why not reverse the word “following” and its value? “Following 200” sounds so much more natural than “200 Following”.

I assure you pressure like this exists. I’m at a public high school, and I won’t stand for the pledge, and I get remarks like, “You should really be setting a good example for these kids”. Of course, I think I’m doing exactly that.
