Hah, I came looking for this in the comments. Adding on their 7 fundamental tenets, for any curious passersby:

One thing that really helped me with winter beauty: fractals. Now the trees are not dormant, dead things. They are fractal art forms, branching in beautiful mathematics.

Conclusion:
There are many strategies not covered here, & many nuances to the points that are listed. This is neither comprehensive nor perfect.
But even if you only do a few of these steps, you're helping to reduce the ability of others to find/use your data to target you & your close people. /🧵

Consider also:
- Delete your Twitter, Meta, and TikTok accounts.
- Use a VPN.
- Change your Wifi credentials regularly.
- Set up multiple wifi networks (for primary devices vs IoT devices+guests).
- Limit IoT devices in your home.
- Leave your phone at home or use a faraday bag.
- Get a dumb phone.

Essential tech changes:
8. Go through the recent Gravy Analytics leaked list of apps that harvest/sell your location & personal data. Delete all of these apps.
Use Ctrl+F to search for each app on your device. If you have apps on this list, delete them.

Essential tech changes:
7b. Use the alerts in # 7 above to go directly to data broker websites and request your info be removed.
They make it difficult. One website I tried just failed entirely (& their support email is dead).
But many do delete your personal info when you request to opt out.

Essential tech changes:
7. Enable alerts for when you're personal info appears in Google search results.
Your contact info—including your address—is being openly shared by multiple data brokers.
To request alerts (& to remove your info from search results):

Essential tech changes:
6. Go through the settings on your phone (& laptop, etc), and disable/limit all activity sharing and location permissions.
E.g.: Turn off always-on microphone settings (which is on by default for built-in assistants). Make apps "ask every time" to track your location.

Essential tech changes:
5. Go through your Google account(s) settings and disable all Activity and Location tracking.
Many folks know that Alphabet (Gmail, YouTube, Google search) pervasively tracks you by default. Consider opting out. Even if you've done step 4c above, go disable everything.

Essential tech changes:
4c. Sign out of Google services on your web browser(s).
Google is happy to sell and share your data. But it has a much harder time tying your data to your Google account if you're not signed into that account when you're browsing the web.

Essential tech changes:
4b. Stop using Google search widgets.
The Google search bar widget on Android phones defaults to use Chrome. You can't move or delete the widget, nor delete Chrome.
Strategy: Place a new widget (from your newly downloaded browser app) right above the default Google widget.

Essential tech changes:
4. Stop using Chrome web browser.
Use a privacy-focused browser that doesn't store and sell the data on what you're reading/doing online.
There are numerous alternatives. From Firefox to DuckDuckGo to Tor's Onion browser—most all are better than Chrome in terms of privacy.

Essential tech changes:
3. Stop using Meta apps.
If you "must" keep using meta services (Instagram, Fb), then use them in a browser, not in their app.
Yes it's less convenient & more annoying to use via web. That's intentional, so that you'll install their apps—which track everything you do/say.

Essential tech changes:
2. Disable biometric unlock on your devices. Only use pins & passcodes.
In the USA: Laws prevent government officials/police from forcing you to share your pin/passcode to unlock your device. But they can force you to use biometrics.

Essential tech changes:
1. Stop using any messaging app except Signal.
Signal is an end-to-end encrypted, privacy-focused messaging app. It can't share your texts with governments.
Stop using Whatsapp, FbM, Telegram, and regular SMS.
