It was heartening to see so many people attend his funeral. So sorry for his lawyers.

Heureusement nous avons la LPO (Ligue pour la protection des oiseaux) en France MAIS pourquoi si peu de membres? Vers 80000. Comparez: La RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) au Royaume Uni a plus d’un million de membres.
Idées pour augmenter sa presence en France? #lpo #birds

Et les martinets. Pour la première fois je ne les ai pas vu au-dessus de mon jardin en 2024 (region Pays de Gex)

Polls need to show a much higher likely pro-Europe vote before a referendum and then application. Frankly unlikely for years, given Farage power in UK and the increasingly obvious problems in Europe right now (France and Germany for starters). Need to be realistic, alas.

According to a report in the F T “Russia, a longtime backer of the Assad regime, said the Syrian president had resigned, left the country and ordered a peaceful transition of power.” You couldn’t make that up - but someone did. I’d be interested to see if Steve can conform that wording.

I posted a photo and caption yesterday re a sparrow hawk with a #bird tag but I don’t think it appeared in the Bird feed. How do I get into the feed? Sorry, ignorant of these processes.

Interesting that Etymonline also adds “Internationalized 20c. in communist rhetoric as Russian khuligan, opprobrium for "scofflaws, political dissenters, etc."” I don’t know their source for that addendum.

Brit expat longtime amateur birdwatcher, member LPO France. Pleasure to see feed and maybe contribute odd photo or two.

Outstanding, to see how UNHCR is working within two crises, of refugees and climate change.

Realpolitik won against common sense. Put it another way, he had to stick with Brexit as part of his election campaign. The NS article says it all correctly - next election he can go much more pro Europe and hopefully set the rejoin campaign in motion.

Easy to forget that Putin decided to invade a sovereign state. That’s what he’ll try to do elsewhere unless we stand firm with Ukraine.

Difficult for us non-Americans to believe that this person could seriously be proposed and most likely ratified. Always important to remember that Adolf Hitler was democratically elected.
