Writer of TV, a graphic novel, and sometimes a substack. I like history but am a fan of not repeating it. Unrealist.

This episode feels timely and much needed. How to keep creative when the world is burning? Not just good advice for writers, but anyone in the arts.

If there’s a better Valentine’s night than Severance, served with an aperol spritz then I don’t wanna know.

I recommend!

Looking for good ideas for storage by the front door and the internet tells me the solution is either a tardis or just keep one coat.

I have to walk up a lot of steps but teaching at Napier rewards you with the best views.

Yup, they changed my sub to £104, don’t get caught out!

Apple TV fast review: Severance 2- great so far. Time Bandits- so much potential but disappointing bandits. Doc about the Enfield poltergeist- great production but underlying subtext of marginalising working class families not really addressed. That is all.

A labyrinth sequel? Piece of cake…

Strange week where I’ve tried to avoid the news and binge watched Queer Eye for the feel goods, then self sabotaged by watching Threads for the first time on BBC 4. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was enjoying audio books on Spotify until it cut off abruptly and asked for a top up fee like it’s the 2000s. So do I wait ten days or pay the price of a book to top up?

Always love a book with a pull out map! (Even better a pull out dialectogram)!

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, just covers. 📚 I’m going to do 2 per day so I can wrap this up for Christmas! Let’s start with this badass children’s book. The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi.

A reminder to please pay your freelancers before popping off for the holidays otherwise Santa won’t visit you and you will be doomed to live in a forever-winter with no Christmas and Mr Tumnus will be turned to stone.

I’m loving this prop book from my episode of River City tonight, named after my wee girl. Don’t bother googling as it’s not real but any children’s publishers wanting to make it for real lemme know!

Behind door number two of the Scarred For Life advent calendar is the startling, shocking LA CABINA. You'll never look at a phone box in quite the same way...

Huh?

I can’t tell you how excited and over joyed I am for this project…!

This would be a dream! At the moment my weekends are full on improv classes with my 4 year old as the teacher and I’m failing hard.

I think we’ve reached peak wholesome TV with junior task master. It could have been full of excruciating theatre kids but they’re all brilliant little weirdos. I might have been too jealous to watch as a kid though.

Ooya! I showed the 80s Narnia to my 4 year old and she loved it. But can we get away with…

I’m going to add a pic to my first post. Today I took the family to Stirling Castle. Last time I was there was some sort of national holiday for the premiere of Braveheart. Wild scenes in those ancient days.
