Imagine being the creep who knew COVID was airborne, highly contagious & lethal as early as 2/7/20 and yet chose not to inform the public or take any steps to prevent spreading of the infection. All because it was an election year and Trump thought it would make him look bad.
Yeah. Totally agree on that point. It was on PBS to be accessible to everyone, only for it to end up on Streaming because outright cable is ridiculous today.
At this point Sesame Street just needs their own streaming service but the cost may be too much
Exactly. I remember Children’s Television Workshop objecting to it going to a pay channel to start with because families that need it most are locked out.
Priorities! Those sweet new luxury condos aren't going to build themselves. The DOGE bros are wise and benevolent by killing woke PBS. Will save the govt 0.00001% of a musk subsidy.
Petty my ass, I'm sure a good portion of England wanted to lynch that guy. :-P
But tiny power plays like that were her brand, like the Saudi Prince that learned that she doesn't need a license to drive. She just does it. At high speeds. While negotiating with him on international affairs.

Cancelled Sesame street, but also buried Batwoman, Coyote vs Acme, and other less known movies. There are several Cartoon Network shows that can never air anymore, cannot be streamed, and cannot be purchased, and simply would not exist if not for piracy. These people are art killers.
I just had the thought. How is it that as a whole, we condemn protestors for vandalizing art to combat climate change, but not executives who completely erase art from existence just to make money? (Not saying either is good)
The thing about that is, vandalism of art in protest, particularly historical art, adds to the history of the piece. It may damage it as an artwork, but as a historical relic it becomes more interesting.
Erasing art such that no one can even look at the vandalized work is wholly different.
But also, all of the vandalized art was behind protective glass and none of those pieces were actually damaged. It also did absolutely nothing to the massive numbers of copies.
What WB execs are doing is like taking a painting, destroying it, and every single other copy of it in existence too.
Art erasure to the extent we see it in the post-internet world is pretty new, and I don't think we as a society have fully grasped what it means yet. It's also done with a minimum of physical overt activity. Art vandalism is public and requires effort. Burying shows is down with a few key strokes.
art erasure is beginning to terrify me and I'm hoping there's a new punk art revolution brewing in the future because this shit really does feel dystopian asf
Close Enough, OK K.O., Infinity Train, Chowder, Flapjack, and Clarence and Uncle Grandpa. As far as i know, there is no legal way to watch any of these.
look we may not like it, but this is the sort of tough, pragmatic decision making that executives have to make to generate profits and business success. now to take a big sip of water and check how WBD's stock is doing since the merger,
He’s far from the only evil corporate suit in this world, but Zazlav truly best fits the template of a villain in a 90’s Nickelodeon show or Sandler comedy. Like, I’d really love to see him covered in wet trash while a secret recording of him taunting the hero ruins him legally and financially.
I think he already did. WBD stock value has been, um, struggling. For a while now.
Might have something to do with terrible business decisions being made by a guy who doesn’t understand the basic math: cancelling shows people want = loss of subscribers.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate a Sesame Street character I didn't see before:
Donald Grump

The entertainment industry is a global industry that includes many sectors that provide brainrot to audiences. It is mainly driven by ungodly greed and is dependent on technology innovations, consumer stupidity, blackmail, bribes, rape, race hatred, degenerate behavior in general, and taco Tuesdays.
It’s technically not “cancelled” since Sesame Workshop still owns it, but WBD ended the distribution deal they’ve had since 2015 that’s been providing most of the show’s production capital and left its future in doubt.
Fortunately it’ll still be airing on PBS, and because of the deal’s structure they’ve still got something like six months of new episodes that have already premiered on HBO.
Just looked it over and the most recent data I could find was that, as of 2014, the production budget is like $40 MM and they ran at about a $11 MM loss after licensing costs. This is the kind of thing that screams out for public financing at a cost of like 4 cents per year per American.
As Big Bird once said to me in an LSD haze (not sure if his or mine: "his soul is now forfeit, the property of a mad, blind, idiot God living on his skull of chicken bones, and unopened copies of Quigley Down Under on VHS".
These people don't see the product, they don't see the value outside of the dollars and cents. They just see if the number went up enough and kill whatever will make the number higher. They don't ever care what the number is, just that it's bigger. Parasites.
The devil is saving a torture chamber for him in hell. Cause even the Devil wouldn't cancel Sesame Street unless he wanted people go full Doomguy from 1993 on him.
Me angry that I haven’t been able to destroy the work of enough creative people yet. I’m saying here that you wouldn’t believe how many cool things I’m still going to fuck up.
I used to work for Discovery, he is not very nice, he is a bit of a moron in fact.
He ordered that all the condom machines in the toilets at Discovery Chiswick park be removed. Most of the staff are quite young, sexually active, and many are gay. This was just stupid on health grounds alone.
"Yeah, I'm the guy who completely and finally murdered Sesame Street. You're welcome."
(Seriously, we need to install new places in Dante's Inferno for fucks like these monsters. "Hi, yes, your place is in the storm drains, looking up helplessly while everybody else is happy.")
Can't let those orphans get greedy. give em an inch and they'll take a mile. First they want an extra serving of gruel, then it's reduced working hours, then pay for their labour or worst of all loving parents.
I genuinely cannot fathom what media he deems “worthy” or “good” like obviously it’s all abt money to him but it’s SESAME STREET, if that isn’t driving enough profit for you then wtf are you even looking for
Look what he did with the Discovery Channel. All he cares about is reality show kack & alt-history cryptonazi propaganda he can rerun on loop without having to invest in creating new episodes.
PBS hasn't received federal/public funding in years, it basically runs on individual donations and a few wealthy and corporate sponsors. Those advertising spots at the beginning/end of most programs have grown in recent decades for a reason
Well, if one has no moral compass, no ability to express compassion, no desire to have children learn counting, reading, as well as morality and empathy, and one is concerned only with the bottom line, then I guess living one's life of wealth and entitlement isn't that difficult.
My good sir, while I assure you children are our future consumers, the last thing we want/need is them to be literate! Or even worse, empathetic 🤢. That simply wouldn't do
To be fair, Sesame Street isn’t what it used to be. It devolved to The Elmo Show, pitched much younger, no more quirks or story lines. It was never interesting to my kids. It was already dead.
I mean he also tried to gaslight Our Flag Means Death fans about why it was canceled literal days after the corporate owned social media accounts teased it being renewed.
He could at least be an honest d*ckbag. “We cancelled it because of the Queer.” Instead of trying to smear the whole feckin’ show and everyone who worked their arses off for it.
There is PBS, but the reason it went to HBO in the first place was that they couldn't fund it. And the incoming administration would probably want PBS to turn into a state sponsored propaganda mill before it ever offered a dime.
No, HBO agreed to make new episodes of Sesame Street and air them on HBO first before they went to PBS because PBS couldn't afford to keep making Sesame Street. They didn't buy all of PBS
Or imagine being the person who locks all the rights down in IP jail and prevents anyone from viewing the back catalogue or making a new series. If you SEESOmething, say something.
I knew Seeso aired the McElroy show (and watched it then). But what did they do? Do they own the rights to air those shows and the McElroys can't stream it elsewhere?
They shut down pretty suddenly, but sold the streaming rights to Vrv. Who then shut down suddenly a couple years later. Now the only way to legally watch it is to buy it on iTunes or Prime.
Afaik, Brandon Rogers got screwed worse. His show is fully unavailable outside of pirating.
I wonder what it'd take to send cards to his grandkids from all the muppets saying "Goodbye, your grandfather fired us. We love you, but not as much as he hated us."
One WB exec, whose name has not been revealed, was responsible for Babylon 5 COMPLETELY disappearing from the world (outside of DVD's) for about 25 years.
Moving it to HBO was the most Disney thing ever...except for if they had moved it to Disney+. That would have been a solid allegory for mental health care in the USA, wouldn't it?
I’m sure he’ll have sweet dreams in his third beach house tonight

He skated on that too.

Genuinely curious.
Also, he improved as Mr. Rogers on an episode of Spontaneanation once that was very wholesome.
I have a theory that The Simpsons is still on the air because no exec wants to be remembered as the person who canceled it.
Her Majesty was a big fan of the show.
Nicely done, Lizbet.

Also bring back duelling so people have a way to challenge executives

While the former is a charming tale of a rich man's redemption, the latter is a call for the poor to go woke.

He didn't say it was because he wanted to make entertainment.
As a child, he'd seen an old photo of Louie B. Mayer behind a big fancy desk with multiple phones and wanted to be "that guy."
That man isn't seeing heaven when he goes.
Or a little more eloquently, and to quote Shakespeare:
“Turd in your teeth … TWICE!”

Not sure about that
Watch some of the new animaniacs they made - late season 1 or later for some "Trump is ridiculous" laughs.
