I'm trying to follow. I don't think I 'got it' yet though. I know that Manjaro'd be an Ubuntu, right? I mean, obvs. Void is Arch... I like the hybrid NixOS comment that you Ubuntu while you Arch it. I guess this covers a lot, eh? Getting into micropopular distros just muddies the art of the shitpost

OK, so it sees your drive now. The resolution is poor cause of the not-so-great video driver pre-installed.

I would install Debian only if I knew what programs I was going to install. Reading on their page, it's pretty easy to mess up, making a Franken-Debian with some mistakes that I used to make when starting out. (Adding extra repositories and PPAs)

it's *mostly* a no-wrong-answer question - except for all the possible mistakes. Ya really won't have to tinker with Mint tho.

so hard to diagnose without being there and rebooting over and over; making small changes here and there, chaotically until something clicks

NixOS made me late for work!
NixOS kept me up all night!
I understand NixOS more than I understand my friends!
I don't understand enough NixOS tho!
NixOS is making me go to therapy!

what i like about starting from 'scratch' with things like Arch and NixOS are= Taking the Hell, and making it usable, then making it awesome. It's a challenge and a test. Historically, I'd go too far and it breaks... NEW DISTRO TIME!!!!! you can avoid this fate. choose your path. :)

:o = "To get around security review requirements, our Deepin community packager implemented a workaround which bypasses the regular RPM packaging mechanisms to install restricted assets."

from the article: "SUSE's findings suggest poor quality code, thrown together with insufficient concern for system security."

i've seen people say Deepin was suspicious; but I always thought that was just because of its origin. Is it actually, documented as compromised? (clicking article now)

i remember a few years ago, when Last Epoch was still like, alpha, i logged into it from Windows, then switched to Linux and all my characters were wiped. Learned a lesson then. soon after, i erased the windows partition... didn't learn how to fix it or coexist, just... delete what i don't want

in general, sure, having Arch is nice. Specifically; what you got?, what you want?, what you do?

I use mine for a PiHole monitor right below my Desktop's main display. I just scroll down when i want with a finger; or I usually just use Synergy to connect the mouse/keyboard.
The touch aspect was a good idea, but didn't end up being what I use. I just like that it fits on top of the board

I realize that my Xorg/Openbox Arch has no far-future and will roguelite it to a Wayland playthrough soon, too :/

I feel ya. I used Chimera Linux for 2 weeks before trying a newer game on Steam. Realized that that OS didn't support proprietary drivers and I have no idea how to implement the nvidia files :(

Back on Arch. I find it easier with fewer default installed files.

i guess i never really used that feature and didn't know how many things don't have it 'here' that did 'there.' (i haven't used windows professionally for a little while... {not a flex, i think i should be more versatile}).

My opinion is that Ubuntu is kinda locked up and hard to put 'stuff' on. I mean, it's great for things. But I didn't like installing rando PPA things of rando servers to update and mess up my apt sources list. How are you trying?
