"I bought a moleskin, and I read Byung-Chul Han...so you could say I'm something of a contemplative."

The sacred and the mundane collapse together when we work through word and act. We aren't "making" necessarily but "stepping into." It's a 2 way street. What is actualized by us is made manifest in the Gods. Both are meeting at the point of our work. (4/4) #witchsky 🧵

Instead, liturgy and narrative make the Gods present to us. The act of ritual does not create a space where worship happens; the act of ritual IS worship. A participatory thing. A magical thing. A communicative thing. And it is more renewal and remembering than reenactment or mechanism. (3/4)

This "I say, you do" mentality of religious rite is more akin to grimoire influenced spirit conjuration than cultic worship or religious magic, which I think a lot of witches are doing. A lot of this mechanistic thinking smells like 19th century #occult obsessions with science-ifying #magic. (2/4)

...is this what the robots will say to us in the dystopian nursing homes we will end up in?

I love seeing talk about this book. It was my favorite read last year. Especially all the comparison between Trika and Iamblichus' thought. Shaw reminded me of the contrasts between Advaita Vedanta's view of the Ultimate and Trika Saivism's. Definitely inclines to the mystic, but I'm biased lol.

The rad trad Catholic spaces are some of the wildest religious spaces I've ever encountered. Whether full sedevacantist or just "more Baroque please," they're just legitimately unnerving and never cease to shock me no matter how often I run into it.
