I think the actual scandal about the bats is that no other team thought to do this before? This seems like a pretty obvious experiment to try in retrospect.

Has that ever happened before? That can’t have ever happened before.

This is unconscionable. There isn’t even an attempt at a real justification here. Completely unnecessary harassment

Every year I think I, a pitching enjoyer, will find a way to enjoy watching Blake Snell. Every year I am wrong.

Some of the best coverage of baseball available. Fangraphs is absolutely indispensable to the true baseball sickos.

On the bright side I still remain optimistic that we will all forget who Pete Hegseth is some day. Jackie Robinson on the other hand… not so much.

Jackie Robinson is one of the greatest Americans ever. There should be absolutely no confusion about that. What this administration is doing is clear cut racism and everyone should call it out as such.

Well that’s not what you want.

Leaving aside the author’s baseless statement that “our system… works better and is more robust than others” the whole article is a straw man. Pharmaceutical companies may not be villains but they certainly are key drivers of unsustainable health care costs.

Watching public health get dismantled so quickly when so many people - myself included - have spent so much time and energy making slow, painful, incremental progress is just so disheartening.

The standard for safe and effective vaccines has never been and will never be zero adverse events. People have reactions, they are exceedingly rare, that doesn’t mean the vaccine is unsafe.

“If we had played better baseball and a bunch of things that didn’t happen had happened we would have won. So obviously we’re the superior team because my hypothetical shows that if we had been better we would have been better.” -Nestor Cortes (paraphrased)

I go back and forth on how I think this will all end but one likely scenario I keep coming back to is that Elon in all his hubris will mess with Social Security and/or Medicare and learn why they are known as the third rail.

This is just all so awful and also all just so very very stupid.

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.

“We don’t have food, ammunition, air support, or any intel, but surely our ability to do a large number of push-ups will win the day!”

So I’m generally a “correlation doesn’t mean causation” guy but my god there have been a lot of plane crashes since inauguration.

Seen a couple of posts/screenshots of folks referring to Kendrick’s performance as the “DEI halftime show” two thoughts: 1) this is obviously rage bait and should probably be ignored. 2) it is so blatantly obvious that the thing they object to is the inclusion of non-white people in public spaces

It’s beginning to feel a lot like baseball season. @baseballprospectus.com

I’m not saying the official story of Hoberg isn’t on the up-and-up but if/when someone does bet on baseball and then acts in a way that impacts the integrity of the game… will they tell us?

I just… have a hard time buying that he SHARED AN ACCOUNT with a guy that was betting on baseball but wasn’t in any way taking part in the baseball betting. I mean maybe he really is just that stupid but… really??

“There’s no evidence…” is a far cry from “it definitely didn’t happen.” Seems improbable that Hoberg wasn’t - at a minimum - aware of the specific details of baseball related bets placed by a close friend.

I was extremely pessimistic about a second Trump term - but I didn’t think it would get this bad this fast. We’re in a full blown constitutional crisis and the democrats are still licking their election wounds. It’s dark out there. Stay strong everyone.

I think we’re gonna to have to look to the states.

people being like "this was their plan all along" forget that while this administration is fucking evil it's also staffed by fucking idiots

The Democrats should be running a tracker on this group and prepping wall to wall ads on how Trump pardoned dangerous criminals.

It’s important to note that the people in charge of these funds also don’t know what is and is not frozen. The people crafting the policy also appear to have no idea what they want frozen.
