Hey you know how people made the Tesla brand radioactively toxic and crashed its entire corporate structure? You can do that with authoritarian brutality and with neoliberal oppression and exploitation. You chase these motherfuckers from society until all that’s left is something real and better.

Keep choosing hope.

“In troubling times, it’s easy to adopt an ‘every man for himself’ attitude. It’s tempting to give up on helping others for the sake of one’s own survival. But When the Elephants Dance argues that such a stance is self-defeating.” www.lgalfonso.com/2025/04/12/b...

My next book review (When the Elephants Dance) will be posted to my blog on April 12. But you can get early access now by subscribing to my Patreon page for as little as $5 a month! Hope to see you there. www.patreon.com/posts/124889...

What did you all read this month? My March was more hectic than usual, so I only got through two books—Braiding Sweetgrass and What’s a Witch to Do. But they were both excellent reads, so I see this as a win 😊 #readers #writers #amreading

Thou shalt not snatch people off the streets for their opinions.

If you want to help disabled people fight New York's proposed mask ban... wear a mask. If more people would mask up in solidarity, these important accessibility tools would be harder to ban. Help us normalize masking and protect your health in the process!

I’ve been wearing masks in public since 2020. Thanks to masks, I haven’t had any trouble with COVID, long covid, or any other airborne diseases. Banning masks would make life harder for everyone, especially with public health threats like bird flu and measles on the horizon. #NoNYMaskBan

Looking for a romance read about a career woman who finds love along the way? Read my thoughts on this book and see if it sparks your interest! www.lgalfonso.com/2025/03/12/b...

What did you all read this month? I read Anne of Manhattan, The Lovers, I’m Enough, and You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty. I’m also still plugging away at Braiding Sweetgrass, but I’m in the final stretch! #readers #writers #amreading

Get in good trouble, necessary trouble.

Every artist I know is really struggling right now. Financially, emotionally, their confidence, in general. If you like an artist's work, support them any way you can. Buying their stuff or subscribing to their Patreon is great, but words of encouragement are also incredibly helpful.

And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

The claim that we need to 'finally' investigate chronic disease ignores the thousands who've dedicated their careers to these exact questions. Restructuring scientific institutions under the pretense that no one's asked these questions isn't just wrong—it undermines decades of research & progress.

“Caring is not abstract.” —Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass

“The cure for the horror is story.” —Will Storr

Remember that a mask does more than protect against covid. A well fitted respirator will also keep you safe from flu, measles, TB and other airborne viruses. It will keep those around you safe if you’re sick. It’s an easy way to demonstrate community care and solidarity.

“The world has a way of guiding your steps.” —Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass #amreading

Disabled rights are human rights pass it on

Banks go through annual training to safeguard sensitive information against cyberattacks. No one seeks sensitive information about millions of people out of the goodness of their hearts. Just saying.

Include disabled people in your resistance planning. In many ways we’re built for resistance, as we have to find creative and sustainable ways to survive every single day. This is the time for intersectionality and community care. We need to work together and save one another.

Please call your senators and urge them to vote no on RFK Jr. He’s been a disaster for public health in the past, and he would be again if confirmed. Even some Republicans have expressed concern about him. If you have a moment, flood their message boxes and tell them not to confirm him.

“A writer is never just looking out of a window or staring into space. They are building a universe to share with the world.” - Brenda Ashworth Barry #amwriting Be Writing. #author #writer #writing ~ #authorsky - Build your universe, your worlds. - Wrtr

Just a reminder that you’re one accident or illness away from becoming disabled. No one is immune to disability. We’re all vulnerable.

JD Vance spearheaded a federal ban on mask mandates. He said it was “a massive victory for personal freedom in this country.” So wear a mask because JD doesn’t want you to. Wear a mask to make them harder to ban. Wear a mask as a form of community care, solidarity and resistance.

Did your child lose their book collection in the Los Angeles fires? Are you a teacher at a school that lost its library or your classroom library? Whether you need one book or a whole library, we can replace your books. 📚 Everyone else, please boost this post so we can connect with those in need. 🙏

The Bible teaches that those who do not show mercy to “the least of these” will not be shown mercy themselves. I recommend that any self-proclaimed Christian taking issue with that should read Matthew 25.
