So you're saying that Windoze was written by people who don't know how computers work? I'd really rather have an operating system created by people who know how computers work than people who don't know how computers work. Nor am I trying to disparage anyone.

The reason you cite is exactly why you should do it. You miss something that you had before or something that never was but should be. Go for it. #Linux #TUI

www.both.org?p=3822 Not as batshit as me. We write about init and systemd on my web site and just finished the 1st draft of a book on systemd. Such fun.

I use the OS that works best for me in all situations, and that's Linux. If a game doesn't run on Linux I don't play it. It seems to me that the emphasis on the few games that don't run on Linux is so ridiculous when so many do work. I know - everyone has faves but 9 advantages to 1 disadvantage?

This update has resolved most all of the last issues I've had with Plasma. www.both.org?p=9572 #Linux #KDE #Plasma

Yes. I know it sounds crass, but I've written a book, "Linux for the Small Business Owner" with Cyndi, my Yoga teacher as co-author. It's all about making the switch. How to save your Windows data, install Fedora, and restore your data. www.both.org?page_id=2024

I have a couple laptops from System76. They are great and have a good range for price/performance. I've also heard good things about, Framework. Although you need to install Linux yourself, you can get them w/o OS. #Linux #Laptop #System76 #Framework frame.work

I use the Xfce version despite having 32G or 64G of RAM on most of my systems.

I have an almost 20 year old Dell with 4GB of RAM that works just fine with the latest release of Fedora. You won't have any problems with 8GB. www.both.org?p=7808

I run many Linux hosts in my home lab, where one is a firewall and one is a server. The server runs DHCP, NTP, IMAP, SendMail, HTTPD, MariaDB, MailMan listserv, WordPress, BOINC/World Community Grid, and more. I usually run it in multiuser.target but it does well in graphical.target, too.

I've been using Linux since 1996. I've only had a few problems caused by the OS. That's like less than 5. I've had many self-inflicted problems. But I always learn a lot by having to fix those problems. They're the ones I learn the most from.

There's no such thing as AI. Just marketing BS, cleaver programming, and crappy databases feeding the code.

Only the military can save us from these clowns. They have, after all, taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. Think about that. #Resist

Tilde (~) is used as a shortcut to a user's home directory. It can be used in commands and scripts as a quick way to reduce typing. So cd ~ always takes me back to my home directory. When I want to tell a reader to return to home with an example or just to refer to the home directory, I use ~.
