The more I think about that d e i snitch site, the more questions I have. Who is going through all these? Who forwards the information to the states? Is there an office for this? Is there some poor intern who is going to be made to read every single report? Is there an Excel sheet?

“But what it deserves is to drown in reports that treat the anti-diversity initiative with all the respect it deserves….At any rate, here's the site. It's right here. So if you have anything to report, just click on this link. I trust you to do the responsible thing.”

I feel so much rage over that €nd DEI portal….

Rewatching Orson Welles’ THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI for this week’s ENGL 1302 class, and gosh I love this mirror maze scene so much. “With these mirrors it’s difficult to tell. You are aiming at me, aren’t you, lover?”

Here's the story with more information on NASA's reprieve from cutting more than 1,000 employees today.

That IG video the wh1te h0use posted earlier, titled deportation ASMR? RAGE. Inhumane treatment. We need to discuss that video from a sound studies angle.

Hating pronouns so hard that you gave the guy from Twitter access to your IRS info 😊

Just in case people don't know the context, this is a policy called splitting the letters, developed by fundamentalist Christians to use feminist and queer language and culture to split the T off and then turn the others against each other. You can watch their 2017 conference planning it.

Now that Trump has fired the Kennedy Center leadership and installed a bunch of cronies who made him the new chair, the theater is canceling programs with even a hint of LGBTQ themes and scrubbing them from its website. Dark stuff. www.washingtonpost.com/entertainmen...

It’s interesting that when this happened two years ago in TX and FL, most blue state academics assumed they were safe and did not pay much attention or join the effort to fight back. Nobody in Texas is surprised to see universities caving to anti-DEI demands.

We’re a couple of audiophiles over here, so my boyfriend and I rewatched K dot’s halftime show tonight, after they fixed the audio problems and played it FULL VOLUME on our living room rig. It was better than I remembered!

Working at a cafe this afternoon. I’ve been thinking a lot the last few days about how people are talking about teachers and about education. What came to mind: “Trust teachers.”

Please pay attention to the state takeover of Houston ISD (the largest school district in Texas). Mike Miles and his goons want to spread their terrible, biased, error ridden, AI written curriculum to every school they can, while lining their own pockets with public funds!

In other news, I took the day to take care off medical bizniz (two appointments and a lab visit), and I wonder why in education we can’t have four-day work weeks.

I teeter between rage, frustration, and apathy—all in one day.

I watched eight hours (off an on) of #txlege debate on the school voucher bill and all I got was this lousy newsletter: open.substack.com/pub/bayoucit...

Look Mama, we made it to the NYT! /s Lemme answer the question for you: no, it’s not a recipe for success. It actually stomps on our morale. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/03/u...

Wanna know a secret, teachers? I’ve been observed 19 documented times this year. Documented. That’s not counting the ones where they peek in for four or five minutes.

Singing the chorus of Faye Webster’s “Wanna Quit All The Time” but making it about teachers having their classes observed all the time.

This is a war against the idea of the public good.

I keep explaining to colleagues that gAI doesn't *know* anything except how often words appear near each other. It has no sense of what a "fact" is, much less a citation, and will never be any smarter than an autocomplete function. It will always produce least common denominator text, boilerplate

just start saying this plainly to more people i'm serious.

When the intent is erasure of disabled people from existence, by removing every system and program designed to help us remain alive, erasing anything that affirms our existence is step one. What, did you think that they were going to stop with trans people? We all know what that man thinks of us.
