I like bikes, trains, and hydrofoils, and have become a bit obsessed with climate, air quality, and urbanism.

What if instead of spending billions to replace old natgas pipes (that we need to start shutting down), we just gave the affected customers heat pumps? Our latest @switch.box report got an excellent write-up by @colinreports.bsky.social

We have had nearly two decades of panic about Free Speech on Campus and not a single case, not even the ones they made up, were as bad as what's happening now

They are just disappearing people off the street. Having a hard time thinking about literally anything else.

None of this shit even has the pretense of “homeland security” or whatever other lies they would typically tell. It is specifically for protesting another country’s genocide. Not violently. Not even all that aggressively. Just saying please stop killing.

The Massachusetts governor, the city, and the university needs to drop everything to locate and free this girl and make sure this doesn't happen again. This is DEFCON-1. If they do this to someone who wrote an op-ed in a college newspaper, they will do this to anyone they don't like.

I'm Kat Abughazaleh and I'm running for Congress.

at least he just came out and said "we are not going to do anything and are waiting for our constituents to fix our mess by taking to the streets to get killed by police"

we're not throwing trans people under the bus for any fucking reason. None. There are two sides: the one that throws people under buses and the side that does not. Choose which one you are on.

NEBRASKA CROWD: “TAX THE RICH! TAX THE RICH!” @USRepMikeFlood: “So your proposal to solve (the debt) is tax the rich?” NEBRASKA CROWD: *CHEERS WILDLY* (not sure this went quite as he planned 😬)

Been feeling a bit too much like spring lately, so Utah had to dump some snow and remind me where i live. #bikesky

Some messages just really resonate.

i hope more than anything what people learn from this 2nd trump term is that the capitalist class are aligned and they want you to have less rights and only want you to exist to generate profit for them

we’re watching elon musk trying to run the government like a business by being that shitty boss everyones had at one point in their life and i hope this is an evergreen example of why “running the government like a business” might be the dumbest ideological statement out there

every single transportation conversation ever

Bit of an icy commute this morning on my bike, especially on the bridges, but still very nice. Beats driving in traffic! #bikesky

Since this only applies to SLC but starts on May 7, 2025, SLC should implement dozens of tactical urbanism lane reductions before that date. Add planters, paint, big tires, whatever it takes. They want to play hardball, we play harder.

My lab group is doing a research study on cargo bike users in North America. If you are a cargo bike user and have a minute to take the survey we'd love to hear from you. Or please feel free to share or repost for other cargo bike users. Many thanks! pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

Cargo bike people: assemble‼️

i can understand being a median voter in 2016 and not regretting your vote for trump but i’m baffled how this happened again. he was literally president recently. we know he believes the insane shit he and the people he surrounds himself with say. how could you possibly be fooled a second time

My heart ached when I was reminded that Aaron Swartz was prosecuted for trying to make academic knowledge more accessible to the public. Meta, meanwhile, is doing it for their own bottom line. I'm going to guess that no one at Meta will be looking at spending 35 years in jail for this.

👇🏽🤷🏻

i mean this so seriously. if you are transgender. please be safe. do not get caught commiting crimes. do not get caught by the state. do not sacrifice yourself, we will survive

The constitutional crisis/Elon Musk coup is the main issue, but I just remain so mad that these assholes are shutting down services and agencies that my tax dollars paid for. We pay for USAID and NOAA and DOE they're wasting our money by targeting these agencies. It's theft.

It’s so embarrassing that Elon actually has influence

There are a million things to be outraged about right now (this is by design). My number one is, trans people don’t have the numbers to defend themselves from all the ways these people are trying to strip them of their humanity. Feels like a “first they came for (x) and I did not speak out” moment

Lovely ride to work this morning on the Jordan River Trail. #slc #bikesky

Learning to ride a bicycle is a keystone in a child’s development as well as being a popular form of recreation and physical activity for children. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Wow. it must feel terrible when someone takes something you made and uses it without permission or payment

It’s really fucking gross to see so many people tying themselves in knots trying to absolve Elon. He’s a Nazi, always has been. Sorry to all the Tesla fans but it’s a shitty car made by people who are exploited and not allowed to unionize. That’s always been true, folks just chose to ignore it.

Look, maaaybe it resembled a Nazi salute. I'll give you that. But how can you be sure a trickster God hasn't seized control of your faculties and forced you to hallucinate your entire existence?

More imperative than ever: don’t cross picket lines

Wow, over a year riding #UTA Trax regularly and I finally got fare checked for the first time. A bit suspect that it happens to be during the time of year Trax is used as a respite from the cold by the unhoused (give them permanent housing and they won't need to do that) #utpol

The way America treats its homeless tells you everything you need to know about society.

I think we can change the world by having protected bike lanes and secure bike parking everywhere.

This is brought to you by the party that supposedly cares about women’s sports.

Cargo bikes are a really useful tool for inserting a little joy, exercise, and fresh air into something mundane like grabbing groceries.

The biggest barrier between cargo bikes and mass adaptation is the gap between seeing and experiencing. They are the epitome of IYKYK.
