He’s allegedly a lawyer and yet he fails to grasp the basic concept of separation of powers and checks and balances. US is now well on its way to becoming a fully fledged authoritarian state.

Me too. I deleted Facebook in 2016, and deleted Twitter after Musk bought it, and I don’t really want to be on any Meta platform now either. Bluesky feels nice so I’m experimenting with sharing some books to see how I feel about it!

I was in the row behind you! Excellent film. Misogyny was also my main takeaway. Edna was an icon.

A fantastic, if terrifying, read.

Love Fintan. His book We Don’t Know Ourselves is one of the best I’ve ever read, hands down. I’m forever recommending it to people.

Wonder if it’s a conscious decision to show toys at a lower price point? A lot of plastic though 😕.

Exactly. They certainly have not gone away, controlling 88.4% of primary schools, making it impossible for children to opt out of religious faith formation that permeates every aspect of school life, and dictating who gets a job - only those with the Catholic cert willing to evangelise need apply.

The RCC still controls 88.4% of Irish primary schools, where religious faith formation permeates the school day, where it’s essentially impossible to opt out as children must remain in the classroom, and where teachers can’t get an interview (let alone a job) without the Catholic religious cert.

I would be mystified by this except that I listened to the INTO podcast on this earlier and one of the speakers appeared to have a clear bias in favour of FF. 🤨

We’ve received almost none in Dublin South West. Only FG so far. Very odd. And no polling cards yet!
