Ramalina Glaucesens #lichen #FungiFriends

Pale white greenly creamy fruity #lichen growing between the dark red gashes of a tree #FungiFriends

Found this on the fringes of an industrial forest #FungiFriends in the forest nothing lives but on the hem of its skirts life is abundant #lichen is the first wave.

Usnea and Ramalina #lichen #FungiFriends

Raaargh!! Gaping sulphurous maw #lichen with dangerous teeth that give uncertain attack #FungiFriends

In the student quarter of this city, large blankets of #lichen with sizeable nutty-brown apothecia scurry close to the walls and creep quietly across pavements the country’s main arterial road just a few feet away. The broken eggshell makes present students in their absence #FungiFriends

An interesting elephant knuckle crust #lichen not anywhere near a real name. Just a thought #FungiFriends

A nice close up of a grey blue #lichen #FungiFriends

Beautiful young #lichen #FungiFriends good colour contrast. Spent a while looking at this. People passing saw me. If you know, you know. We are in the middle of a bush, in a public space with our face very close to the trunk or a branch or twig and, quite rightly, they are probably thinking ‘nutter’

This #lichen has legs like a flat centipede #FungiFriends

Found this on a stump. Barely a millimetre across. Camera revealed it was more than just a pink spot. Anybody know what I am looking at? #lichen #FungiFriends

Bristling #lichen #FungiFriends

Script #lichen elongated or distorted apothecia looking occasionally like a type of writing or form of communication. I posted two more photos that show the same at a different distances for all my #FungiFriends

Like pebbles in a river #lichen #FungiFriends

A world of beige #lichen, everything is going on, rimmed apothecia of varying sizes, (some are so small, the rims not full at all, some are so large, they win prizes) - rim is almost hidden by large fruit in a few instances but so very beige #FungiFriends

So, I am still committed to finding out more about my last two #lichen posts, I thought I would take more close-ups and post but it will take me a while to get back there. I won’t forget. During the meanwhilst - look at these tiny volcanoes #FungiFriends

Here is a backed up view of the starry #lichen on my Camillia

This is a beautiful find. I’ll follow with a more distant shot tomorrow but for now look at what’s going on here with this #lichen #FungiFriends please. Name it if you can or help me describe it. I look at my guide book and I just get so confused. :/

Black unrimmed apothecia on a pale green lignicolous crustose lichen and a yellow teloschites? - perhaps - very minute these #lichen and a few mini foliose somethings too #FungiFriends

Green wedge, cracked and crusty pushing through lots and lots of spots, #lichen constructivism. #FungiFriends

A different specimen not sure if it’s the same type of #lichen as previously posted but woah! Look how close the camera got. #FungiFriends exciting desu ne? My camera with clever clip on lens, has a very narrow field of focus at this close range. Luck wins in this case. Hoorah!

et’s take a closer peek at this #lichen that looks to imitate a the satisfying dry scabby playground kneecap of a schoolboy #FungiFriends

I posted this #lichen before, when, in the green space of early days, it’s quite possible I mislabelled it. Now, with almost a year behind me, I know enough not to label any lichen unless absolutely certain. It’s the eyes - minuscule eyes, tubes, cones, scales - intriguing - I must get closer

Still playing with my new clip on, close up lens. This a very tiny #lichen and I love the detail I am seeing more. Next I thought I would get a microscope. Big leap really. I am here for the pretty pictures mostly. BioChem needs to be relearned and studied #FungiFriends

And I am still here at my post with my close-up lens. Lovely #lichen this one. Falling towards us #FungiFriends

back in NZ. With a new cunning device allowing me to get closer shots of #lichen so I am guessing that I will revisit some old favourites while I play about. This one grows on my washing line post. I spend a little time trying to identify. But get lost in a sea of information #FungiFriends

And here is my last English #lichen again found on Hamstone. I had a wonderful break in the UK but it’s time to return to NZ. I have a new lens which means I can get closer to my lichen and you will see giant pictures of tiny things. I can’t wait to play with it. #FungiFriends

Another crusty #lichen blue grey with something red brown - very similar shades to the stone it is bonding with #FungiFriends

426.12 parts per million (ppm) CO2 in air 03-Feb-2025 keelingcurve.ucsd.edu

I look at this #lichen and wonder - alive or dead? I am content to wonder. The stone is Hamstone. Described as honey coloured, a beautiful stone much sought after through many centuries

A punctelia #lichen I think. Big and beautiful #FungiFriends
