Absolutely right. But let's spell out what resistance looks like, which may be different for MoC and other public officials than for other citizens. @timothysnyder.bsky.social suggests a shadow administration. Maybe Chris Murphy is the one to lead that.

Hypocrisy assumes an ethical code. It suggests inconsistency when this is and always has been about regaining power so that it can be wielded unfairly.

I was in Ireland a couple months ago and got into a conversation with a young woman. She asked about the election. We asked how Ireland viewed it. She said "We're leaning away from Trump." Pause. "Leaning hard." Pause. "Leaning so hard we might tip over."
