Gene Hackman sounds like a character Hideo Kojima would have in a game about cloning

Let's go

Not even going to tease you here. 1000xRESIST, by Sunset Visitor recieved a Metacritic review score of 98. You read that right. Now read @Matt Aukamp’s review at the Hotspot. adventuregamehotspot.com/review/3628/... #metacritic #adventuregame #indiegame #switchgame #pcgame

whos up stranding their deaths

Credits rolling on Avowed. Overall I enjoyed it! Some will find that its CRPG roots and superficial similarities to TES hurt it—it deliberately opts out of any pseudo immersive sim aspects in favor of a more streamlined questing experience. It is a *good* experience, with the right expectations.

This is like an optical illusion. Out of the corner of my eye I can catch "soul" but when I actually look at it it goes back to rarohire.

So true, NiGHTS.

this website is on another level

Sometimes you get an outside perspective on the game you're working on and are forced to concede that it looks pretty cool youtu.be/gJm4anBGZGM?...

look, I’m not saying there aren’t horrors. just that you can have a little treat along with the horrors too.

I don't think it's discussed nearly as much as it should be that when Mega64's transfarring promo was dubbed into Japanese, Konami got Mr. Japanese Solid Snake himself, Akio Otsuka, to dub Rocco and it'll never not be the funniest thing to hear a voice I now associate with car ads coming out of him.

Heartbreaking: 36-year-old man needs a good cry but refuses to watch episode six of Aim for the Top! GunBuster

one of the best pieces of key art it’s so good

“I didn’t go, not after what he said” is an example of RESUMPTIVE NEGATION—the use of one negative statement immediately after another to emphasise the negation of the whole. The second clause here could just be “after what he said”, but the extra ‘not’ works to reinforce the first.

Sudden, chilling realization that my inclinations re: game design and narrative—hell, my entire creative identity—can probably be boiled down to "read House of Leaves when he was 14"

I am once again rewatching the climax of Umineko EP 5. This is really the best game of all time.

Credits finally rolling on Metaphor ReFantazio. A fantastic game, as expected, and I remain fascinated by its development cycle. A very direct sequel to Persona 5 left to cook for the better part of a decade, it feels simultaneously sprawling and constrained, polished and rushed. Craft, not product.

Jesus voice:

It occurs to me, after reading posts getting it spectacularly wrong, that there are a lot of misconceptions over how game studios organize and, in particular, who makes the actual decisions about what ends up in your game. Much of it is by folks who don't *try* to get it... but not all, surely. 1/🧵

WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME ABOUT TUPI

Not enough excitement for Soul Reaver Remastered here

great week if you’re interested in emergent narrative

many stories throughout the ages have been about the end of the age of heroes and the beginning of the age of men. the illiad placed this occurence sometime in the mycenaean era. mgs3 places it in the 1960s.

Wrapped up my Zero Time Dilemma re-play, and it cemented my belief that the game being the weakest in the trilogy is a mercy. The death of the franchise would have been incredibly painful if the last entry had been on par with Virtue's Last Reward, but it being plagued by misfires softens the blow.

New Mononoke movie on Netflix kicked the shit out of me. Absolutely floored. It demands your undivided attention and rewards you every second of its 85-minute runtime.

machine translation post editing, or as I like to call it, "translating the text from scratch"

Lorelei and the Laser Eyes coming to PS5, PS4 on December 3 Publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Simogo will release puzzle game Lorelei and the Laser Eyes for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on December 3, the companies announced.

The key to surviving online is innoculating yourself with the correct amount of anime. Too little, and you will feel endlessly lost. Too much, and you will lose yourself to endlessness.

Born to play Slitterhead, forced to clear the new FF14 raid before the weekly reset

Rise of the Golden Idol cleared. It's pretty exactly what I wanted—more point-and-click Obra Dinn but with a reset complexity progression, a new setting, and some mechanical tweaks. The interpretive dance segment was a highlight. Excited for the DLC!

Surprise delays in parts of the world and minimal marketing still conspire to bury "SLITTERHEAD" but having played a couple of missions I need you to buy it. Keiichiro Toyama's Silent Hill / Forbidden Siren / Gravity Rush design genealogy is on full display. A PS2-ass experience for gamer freaks.

hey dude, I noticed you attempting to carve a small space for joy in the face of overwhelming sadness. kind of problematic considering all the horrors

It's The Rise of the Golden Idol day!!!

Now, more than ever, certain stuff is so important. And it's so important to take time to do certain other stuff for yourself

we are in a meeting and she is not paying attention

reposting this iconic @joshmlabelle.bsky.social tweet over here because it came up today

it's so sad that The Gamers have started posting sales and CCU graphs now. normies, previously ruining games, are now the ultimate arbiters of taste

It takes a lot for me to block people on social media but if I ever learn you prefer red apples over green apples we are done

Ys X Nordics will no doubt have me bouncing off the series for the umpteenth time but I just can't help myself. The first game was titled "Ancient Ys Vanished"! Video game titles don't get better than that

The calendar system is absolutely what makes the games work, but as an audience we've had to suspend a lot of disbelief in our journey from Persona 3's "bosses appear with the full moon" to Metaphor's "we should rescue the kidnapped children within the next 5-10 business days"
