It's absolutely insane that Elon Musk and his wrecking crew are saying they're firing entire swaths of our government infrastructure and the press are just like "oh that's sad but what are you gonna do, guess they're fired." It is batshit crazypants, and it's being covered like normal policy choices

That's what made the Ukrainians invade themselves.

This is the most unfunny joke, ever. Trump is effectively casting doubt on Article 5 of the 1949 North Atlantic Treaty, undermining the NATO alliance and hinting to Moscow that the US might not back up the UK should Russia attack it.

We stop this now, or we become like Russia. Plain as day.

Let it be said. Our government and the people who work for it are not a waste or a fraud. They are a modern goddamn miracle. If Elon Musk doesn’t like a government that serves all the people, he is welcome to build a time travel machine and return to Apartheid South Africa. the.ink/p/government...

The way we're already pricing in authoritarianism is very, very bad. Trump is using his power as president to openly retaliate against a law firm for representing Jack Smith and it's barely news. The signal this sends is chilling to anyone who would oppose him. What else will he do to his opponents?

"Experts cannot recall a precedent for the United States, or any other country, extracting cash or resources from its own allies during a time of war" www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/w...

So much for government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

1. The benefit of Trump's "shock and awe" approach to governance is that there is so much going on that brazen corruption goes virtually unnoticed. Consider Coinbase. It was charged by the SEC in 2023 with violating numerous laws. Now the SEC is dropping the lawsuit. Why? FOLLOW THE MONEY

We love merit, don’t we folks?

The fact that a vote on a budget resolution is coming up means it's absolutely critical to call your congressional rep first thing in the morning, and remind them of the importance of not giving the Musk/Trump administration a pass.

Plus Joy and Lester Holt? Looks like the slide deck of a Power Point presentation at an employment discrimination webinar. Not a good look @msnbc.com Not a good look at all. A betrayal of your loyal audience & a disaster for your network. www.thedailybeast.com/new-msnbc-bl...

What happened is horrifying. I'm grateful for the AFT leaders, Las Cruces educators and the students who are urging their legislators to protect and respect their rights to not live in fear under the Trump administration. www.organmountainnews.com/federal-agen...

My husband, as a disabled person, is a Medicaid recipient. The number on the left is how much his upcoming surgery (which he needs to BREATHE NORMALLY) would cost w/o Medicaid. The number on the right is what it’s costing us. The end of Medicaid would kill disabled folks.

The Justice Department has inserted Mac Warner, who last year espoused false claims that the CIA stole Trump’s 2020 presidential victory with the FBI’s help, to run the civil rights division. news.bloomberglaw.com/us-law-week/...

By “managers” I assume he means Kash Patel, Pete Hegseth etc. Those men told the employees who report to them to not respond to the email.

The President of the United States expressing his views on the 1st Amendment

I was proud to be part of the United States team that rallied the world to support Ukraine. Now, I’m horrified by what we’ve become. A tragic day for democracy and an indelible stain on America’s history.

theres no obvious chain of command on purpose so the people like big balls are the ones that end up going to jail while the higher ups skate

The only war that Putin is winning is inside Trump’s head. Putin only wins the war on the ground by setting American policy, through Trump. www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

I would like everyone who supports this idea - and I include some of our local MLAs - to explain how precisely the students' sex would be screened, including who would have the responsibility for checking, which body parts they need to see, etc. In detail please.

Key point from @leahgreenberg.bsky.social: She says Indivisible organizers are encountering lots of voters who are looking for a way to have an impact. That suggests there's energy out there that remains unchanneled. Dems can step up here. Our exchange on this: newrepublic.com/article/1918...

Putin planned to take Kyiv in three days, but he couldn't take Kyiv in three years. The only way Putin wins now—the only way he finally succeeds in destroying Ukraine’s sovereignty—is by persuading Ukraine’s allies to abandon Ukraine. www.theatlantic.com/internationa...

When the political leaders fire, for no apparent cause, senior leaders and, as important, the lawyers who embody the protection of the military members under the law... the relationship between the military and the nation has been fundamentally altered. open.substack.com/pub/contrari...

“According to Greek media, Trump’s decision to dismantle the military presence in Alexandroupoli came after a joint request from Putin and Erdogan.” defence-blog.com/trump-shuts-...

Today does not mark the third anniversary of the Ukraine war. It is the third anniversary of Russia’s escalation of an illegal war they started without provocation in 2014—a war that raged throughout every minute of Trump’s first presidency without him taking any measures to stop it.

For those following the story of unidentified men violently dragging a protester from a local Idaho GOP meeting, it turns out they were from a private security firm called LEAR Asset Management. But neither the sheriff (who watched it all go down) or the GOP will take responsibility for hiring them.

Putin should be pressed to agree that $300 billion of sovereign Russian assets frozen in Europe be used for Ukraine’s reconstruction. I’ve previously explained why those assets must be seized to offset the devastation Putin has wrought by his illegal war of aggression: search.app/MjfJQp23UWEu...

Dear Dems. This is a reminder that Donald Trump rescinded the ethics rules preventing gifts to executive branch employees. Now would be a good time to propose legislation formalizing the prevention into a law Time to do things that make him react to you. apnews.com/article/trum...

Maybe corny but it was helpful for me to hear Henry Rollins saying "this is not time to be dismayed, this is punk rock time, this is what Joe Strummer trained you for... You can be thunderous in your own life, to the eight people around you. That rubs off... Goodness is viral"

"So is OPM providing a project/charge number to respond to that email? No? Oh, well I'm sorry that we can't work on unfunded projects for other agencies at this time"

“More than a quarter of the contracts listed by DOGE were actually already paid, the Journal found, saving no money. For instance, DOGE listed $168,000 in savings for terminating a contract with HHS for an Anthony Fauci museum exhibit. It had already been fully paid.” Beyond parody.

Get. Him. Out. Of. Our. Government.

Democrats are fundamentally misunderstanding the moment: We're not asking them to be *legislators* right now. We need them to be *politicians.* There's nothing to be done about the legislative situation. They're right about that. But there's PLENTY to be done as politicians.

Whether in the courts or by way of pressure on the Trump Administration, DEMAND evidence of these claims of fraud and waste. You’d think Trump would be running to Congress & to court to show what they’ve found, and yet…crickets 🦗

ProPublica has released another study related to the effects of abortion bans in the U.S., this time showing a spike in sepsis cases in Texas following the implementation of that state's "heartbeat" abortion ban in 2021.

This story can't be repeated enough. The GOP is lined up behind the guy who is so incompetent that his quasi-gov't agency did this. They're confirming his highly questionable nominees & hurting the American people. And "accidentally"? It was stupidity, not accident. www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

"DOGE wanted access to SSA’s sensitive files — the same way they’re trying to do at Labor and Treasury — and the acting commissioner wouldn’t give it, and she was replaced,” said Nancy Altman, president of Social Security Works. “There is no way to overstate how serious a breach this is."

Would Canada being forced to join the US be good for Democrats? Sure. Would all white guys dying be good for Democrats? Extremely. So anyhow, let's all muse on how good things would be if all white men were murdered tomorrow. You know, for fun.

The brilliant AOC upsets a lot of men a lot, and since they have no idea that that's what's going on they subject us to their inanities, and now I am going to close replies so I don't have to hear a bunch of junk.

Like any other dept, the SSA or IRS can generate reports or provide a data file without personal identifying information. This should satisfy any requests from DOGE involving "auditing". Regardless, DOGE is not authorized to see ANY data. Period. Full stop.
