They should have just claimed it was freedom of speech to fire a deaf person.

So ruddy bloody brave.

I'm not saying I'm a saint, but if someone had pee tapes of me, I'd choose to defend innocent civilians and democracy even at the cost of the tape being released.

I mean, he has a clear track record of caution.

I have seen this opinion expressed. Whether by a real human or a Kremlin bot, I didn't pause long enough to discern.

From what I've seen, the people who already liked Trump think he did great standing up to the dictator/chancer Zelensky, and the people who aren't completely deluded are as appalled as most of us Europeans.

It really is a head vs heart situation. I want nothing more than Starmer to tell Trump to get fucked. But it also feels that if there is ANY path to US support for Ukraine, it's through Starmer's flattery approach.

Also, if you think something bad might come across a bridge towards you, you destroy the bridge.

It was like he was telling us he's only seen propaganda without saying he's only seen propaganda.

What's the hack to make sure you knock on my door and don't just sling the parcel over the fence and hope it doesn't get rained on or stolen?

Well, Davey is much more free to speak his mind, never having a realistic prospect of having to engage with him as a world leader.

They've taken the worst shoe and emblazoned it with the worst Beatles album.

Definitely worth wrecking the economy and overturning the democratic order for.

Nice of the replies to that post to illustrate why that cesspit is best avoided.

Don't worry, I'm sure appeasing warmongering dictators has never had bad consequences before. They pretty much just keep to themselves.

Yes, because that worked so well for the Tories.

Starmer will have been advised, and will have known anyway, that his first duty is to the national interest. And for the time being that involves trying not to aggravate the savage animal trying to tear everyone to shreds in the corner of the room.

I love that the other Manics kept paying 25% of royalties into his account for years afterwards.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do when mine arrives.

Just donated. You brave, brave man.

It's so nice when someone pinpoints something that irked you, but you couldn't really explain why. A great piece. It made me think of those (mostly radio) adverts where the premise is they're recording an advert, and they have the engineer talk to the VO artist. Is that twee? I think it might be.
comment in response to post
Yes, I agree. It's disheartening to see Labour sucking up to Trump, but they've obviously decided they need to.

Presumably, her audience with this quote is one man, and he's also the subject of it.

Thanks for putting into words what I thought his reason was (3).

It's the physical equivalent of saying the quiet part out loud.

I think Utd's current problem is the exact opposite - a manager with good tactics but players who can't or won't execute them.

I think having players who are suited to and well-trained in Amorim's system would make a huge difference. If he could have magically brought 11 Sporting players over with him, Utd would be much higher in the table than they are now.
comment in response to post
So did other coaches in the Portuguese league not target Amorim's weaknesses? Seems like they had plenty of time to do so. Or are Premier League coaches of such a high quality that they have sussed Amorim's system in 2 months where Portuguese league coaches couldn't?

The fire jets look a lot safer from this angle. Where I was sat, it looked like any of them could get toasted by leaning the wrong way.

I'm imagining the conversations the parents have with these children in the future. "Yeah, that vicar everyone got angry about? He was right. Even though we went to great lengths to reassure you Santa is real, he's not. What do you mean you'll never trust me again?"

Ironic, given that was the least likely one to get a spin.
