Today is Bloomsday, which celebrates the life and work of Irish writer James Joyce. Joyce’s novel Ulysses (1922) follows protagonist Leopold Bloom in Dublin on June 16, 1904, using a stream-of-consciousness style to explore the characters’ thoughts and feelings on enduring themes of human existence.

"Over four months, LLM users consistently underperformed at neural, linguistic, and behavioral levels. These results raise concerns about the long-term educational implications of LLM reliance and underscore the need for deeper inquiry into AI's role in learning."

Worked on some really cool things in yesterday’s split-spanset lyra workshop, and am bruised and sore enough today that I’m skipping lyra 1 class tonight. WORTH IT, especially as I’m signed up for lyra 2 on Thursday. #aerials

And with today’s work, there are fewer than 20 @uncannymagazine.bsky.social Year 11 KS backer rewards left to mail. 2 are waiting for something to arrive. The remainder have surveys that haven’t been filled out, which means we don’t have addresses. UFFDA. (Fill out your surveys. Please.)

"Heartfelt and heart-wrenching in the best ways, this novel is about grief and belonging, recovery, healing, and love... Highly recommended, like the most comforting of hugs from a loved one at a difficult time." So grateful for this review from @lynnemthomas.com 💝 lynnemthomas.com/2025/06/12/b...

An early #1890s tea gown for the femme fatale, no pale chiffons and pastel florals here but all the drama of red velvet and sheer black trimmings, all the better for swooping into a room and pausing in the doorway for effect #kelvingroveartgalleryandmuseum #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

HNNNG and also that’s a GREAT color on me

Happy Father’s Day to all those who fill that role with love, and love for anyone for whom today is bittersweet or painful.

Another weekend of working on backer rewards mailings for @uncannymagazine.bsky.social year 11 Kickstarter, interspersed with some classes at the studio. So glamorous. 😎

Happy birthday to the #FrockingFabulous Lucile, Lady Duff Gordon, who was born on this day. This glorious purple confection is from 1912 and I love it! #fashionhistory via the V&A.

I’m begging you: take some time out of your day to explore this newly released map of our universe. 🤯 This interactive site shows JWST’s view of the COSMOS-Web field, containing more than 800,000 galaxies spanning 98% of cosmic time. Its actually mindblowing 🧪🔭 cosmos2025.iap.fr/fitsmap.html

As a temp receptionist for an advertising firm just after graduating college, I met Robert Vaughn who was shooting a commercial. I had ZERO idea who he was at the time. He was lovely. Now that I do know his work, I can think of the interaction warmly.

Happy birthday, Gwendolyn Brooks! An esteemed poet and prominent figure of the Black Arts Movement, Ms. Brooks (1917-2000) was passionate about encouraging young people to write and engage with poetry.

When you are a famous author, but your last name sounds like “pig”, well, see for yourself. The drawn pig on the binding was made by the book owner, Konrad Peutinger, as a reminder that this book is from the author whose last name - Porchus - sounds like pig (“porcus”). #skystorians #bookhistory

Oh, have also had (separate) random elevator rides with wrestlers: Hangman Adam Page and Dustin Rhodes. Both were incredibly sweet to Caitlin. Hanger remembered her name the next day at a photo op.

I did my best to compile as many protest safety notes as possible into a one page foldout zine! Coincidentally…it seems the file has breached containment…like it’s available for anyone to print or hand out 👀⚖️ toonyart.com/s/PSZine.pdf

I once crossed the street opposite Ted Danson in NYC. Once was on a flight with the guitarist from Cheap Trick. I think I did the “shy rictus smile of acknowledgement” at them, and that was it.

Being alive for the "find out" portion of history is really tiring when I wasn't doing the fucking around 😭

Earlier this year, @uncannymagazine.bsky.social published my short story, "Six People to Revise You." It's a very personal story about a queer person who thinks they need to change things about themself to be worthy. It hits hard this month. Happy pride. www.uncannymagazine.com/article/six-...
