Cook well in the afterlife , Anne Burrell, and give our love to Anthony Bourdain. You both left too soon.

I looked up from my computer screen and this is what I saw.

Eight hours of work, four hours of scrolling through job postings, five applications put in for open position, and one thanks-but-no-thanks email. Now I’m ready for a couple of hours of stitching and some stupid online games, then bed and sleep…just to do it all again tomorrow.

**looks out window ** Does anyone still have those plans for how to build an ark?

The face of a puppers who played at the doggo park today, and who managed to find the only mud puddle in the place so he could lie down in it!

I get mildly annoyed when I’m listening to a book series and they change narrators from one book to another. I just got used to one person’s voice and rhythm of reading, and now I have to adjust to a new one! #booksky #FirstWorldProblems

I don’t know why, but I tend to have a much more difficult time with focusing on rainy / grey days.

Time to interview for a permanent position at the job I’m working as a contractor!

McKinney stands up for democracy!

I received my first paycheck yesterday. I am finally a productive member of society again!

Why do people keep worrying about opinion polls on the Republican Administration? He doesn't CARE. He doesn't have to make anyone else happy. He is either going to become dictator for life, or be unable to run for Prez again. Either way, being upside down in opinion polls is irrelevant to him.

If we don't see tons of video clips of him saying "I couldn't care less." in response to being asked about prices going up on cars due to tariffs in opposition tv ads, I'm going to be very, VERY miffed at the Dems. www.msn.com/en-us/news/p...

As of today I have been employed for an entire week!

I have practically zero self control when it comes to Lindt's Lindor Truffles. I love the damned things and just shove 'em into my gob at an appalling rate. This is why I can't buy them very often! :)🍫

It was a pretty good first day at the new job. I got onboarded by IT, then took some courses, had lunch, spent the afternoon in training. Finished with a 'touching bases' meeting with my boss & the other new employee. Spent my last 1.5 hrs taking a SalesForce class on the company's learning portal.

This is horrifying. And this woman had all of the advantages and privilege that few of the other detainees have. I can't even imagine what it's like for the ones with no contacts, no resources, and no hope. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Hooray! Shiny new MacBook delivered! Of course, I don't have my login information yet, but hopefully I'll get that later today or first thing tomorrow morning. New job, HERE I COME! :)

Up at 7 a.m. today. New job start date is Thursday, & I'm trying to get used to getting up for work before the big day. Early morning still sucks. Ah well, gotta make sure we have money for dog and kitty food! @theshadoknows.bsky.social and Steve got up in solidarity! Sweet of them, yeah?

I've been looking for recipes that are inexpensive. I keep running across recipes that require leftover rice and leftover mashed potatoes. Who has leftover rice and mashed potatoes hanging around? Seriously. Whenever I make anything with rice or potatoes, they're the first things gone! ;)

Thanks, Universe, for giving us 2 days of hope before punching us in our faces again. So if anyone has solid job leads, please send them to @theshadoknows.bsky.social **sigh**

I have signed up for work benefits! I AM MIGHTY!!!!!

Well, pending background check and paperwork, I HAVE A JOB!!!! YAY!!! This is my kind of Monday!!!

This was our Rep's town hall yesterday (I think it was yesterday and not the day before). And yes, I do think that some of these folks are Republican voters, not just Dems / progressives.

Do you know what's fun? Trying to take an online class and then take a test for said class while two tvs and an iPad are all blasting at the house. That's fun. Isn't it?

The chicken has chickened. The dumplings are dumplinging. Now just to wait til they're done, then we eat!

Two video interviews for jobs today! Both pay in the range I need, and both seem pretty interesting. Now the waiting begins! So...I'll just keep putting in applications while I wait. After all, just because you have an interview (or two) you don't stop searching! It ain't over 'til HR sings! ;)

It's been a shitty couple of days. Been running a fever on and off. Woke up last night and was so hot my pajamas were wringing wet. I think I was on the edge of delirium, too. Later I woke up and was so cold I was shivering. Also feel like someone inside my head is using an icepick on my left eye.

@theshadoknows.bsky.social loves me. :)

For no particular reason, today seems like a good day to take a look at my organizing guide "40 Ways to Fight Fascists: Street-Legal Tactics for Community Activists.” share it with your friends, print out PDF's & stuff in little libraries. (in Spanish & German, too) www.spencersunshine.com/fortyways

Had a preliminary phone interview today. She said she has to finish her other preliminary calls this week and will be meeting with the hiring manager Friday. I should hear early next week if I go to the next step. If you have positive juju to spare, I wouldn't mind a bit of it coming my way.

Sadly, this reminder is needed now more than ever.

Pancake and Mischief: Best Buds Forever

If anyone is looking for me, I'm severely limiting my time on social media in an effort to get other things done. I check in every day, but I refuse to sit here and doomscroll. It just makes me angry / depressed, so I stay abreast of what's happening and do what I can to help, but I'm not obsessing.

💙📚 Started a new audiobook. It's actually part of a series about the history of the world, mostly about Western history, of course, as it was written early in the 20th century by a wyte guy. At least the first book is a bit more diverse: Book 1 of 11: Our Oriental Heritage by Will Durant #BookSky

Still trying to find work. Considering a go fund me but everyone is going to be hanging onto their money. I'm continuing my bookkeeping courses. I've gotten 3 classes done, with just 1 to go before I can take the certification test. Do you think people will still need BKs after civil war happens?

I just...can't...today. I have to stay off social media for a day or my head is going to implode. Either that or I'm going to do something regrettable. I'm going to work on my bookkeeping course, read, and do some cross-stitch to restore what little sanity I have left. See y'all tomorrow.
