No, I haven't. I'll have to review it carefully. But I worry that, even if it's legitimate evidence, it's probably too late for Democrats to do anything about it. I'll let you know when I've read it. Thanks! ๐

Blue eyes may be sparkling, but brown eyes are anything but boring. They express emotion, intelligence, and a deep, empathetic soul.

True, no doubt about that. But all you can do with diamonds & emeralds is look at them or wear them. Though I know of at least one useful function of a diamond: as a stylus on a turntable's cartridge to extract music from the grooves of a vinyl LP! ๐ผ ๐ถ ๐ฅฐ

I've been feeling suspicious since November 2024. No way he could've won all the swing states. And no way he could've won states that voted for Blue down-ballot senators & congressmen.

Good question! I've never understood the obsession women have for diamonds. If you offered me a diamond, I'd probably say "No thanks. Keep it for yourself." Can you possibly shed any light on that mystery for me? Still clueless after all these years! (With apologies to Paul Simon.) ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Hey, that's cool! ๐ดโโ๏ธ ๐ Hope you had a good ride. I rode today, too. I typically ride late in the afternoon to early evening to avoid the heat, but there's not much I can do to avoid the humidity! ๐ฅต

I'm still waiting for some intrepid investigative journalists to uncover evidence of a staged assassination attempt that supposedly grazed his ear but miraculously looked untouched days later and was not supported with any publicly released medical reports.

For longer trips, we often went to AAA to get a TripTik, a booklet with a page for each segment of the trip, showing exits, intersections, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, mileage, expected travel time for each segment, and road construction sections to avoid or expect delays. Great system! ๐

Oh yes, me too! I love to watch and listen to thunderstorms or simply gentle rain, as long as I'm safe & dry inside! Getting caught in a rainstorm out on the bike is NOT a nice experience!

For me, the entire summer in S. Florida is inclement, in the sense that it's persistently too hot & too humid to enjoy outdoor activities! ๐ฅต It's also the rainy season, with frequent & often unexpected thunderstorms โ๏ธ so I have to check all my weather apps before I venture out to ride! ๐ดโโ๏ธ โ ๐

You've created so many wonderful images, but I can't tell if they're actual photos, or totally AI-created images, or some combination of both. Sorry, as a boomer, this is all too new for me to fully understand. I told you about the one image in particular that appealed to me the most.

And yet, still not a red line for GQP MAGAts. Instead, they rant about the inconsequential frailties of Biden's last year in office that had no impact on his successful accomplishments.

I agree. I spent 18 years in Johnson City, Tennessee. Appalachian "hillbillies" just basically want to be left alone to live their lives in peace but will help others in need, while the GQP "Taliban" MAGAts want to control other people's lives but won't abide by the same rules themselves.

I tend to agree with your analogy. Appalachian "hillbillies" just basically want to be left alone to live their lives in peace but will help others in need, while the GQP Taliban wants to control other people's lives while not abiding by the same rules themselves.

The book paints a brilliantly colorful picture of life in those bygone days. It was perhaps in some ways like Beirut once was, known as the Paris of the Middle East, before it was torn apart by wars & terrorists.
(BTW, I sent you a message on DM.)

No doubt you're right about the current chaotic atmosphere of Cairo. I was referring to the much different, more cosmopolitan Cairo before World War II as described by Lucette Lagnado of her Sephardic Jewish family's life in Cairo until General Abdel Nasser came to power in Egypt.

Indeed, corruption in our government is rampant. The mind-boggling irony is that the US demanded Ukraine purge its corrupt officials before we'd agree to supporting them with military weaponry & intelligence prior to the Russian invasion.

All of that sounds marvelous! Some years ago I read a fascinating book by a journalist of The Wall Street Journal that describes her parents living in pre-war Cairo. Colorful descriptions of the bustling international culture of a vibrant city.

Even with no SCOTUS involvement, if Mitch McConnell had voted the way he said he should, 45 would've been impeached and never become 47. He knew it, he spoke it out loud in the Senate Chambers, then chickened out, and the other dumbass senators followed him like lemmings. ๐คฌ

Interestingly, The Night Manager starts out in Cairo during the Arab Spring protests. It's based on the novel by John LeCarrรฉ and stars Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, & Elizabeth Debicki. Excellent series.

Can I interest you in a charming, character-study short story written by Carson McCullers in 1941? It may not be summer reading since it'll only take about 20 minutes to read, but you might spend a little extra time mulling over the unusual ending. ๐ค

That's amazing that you were able to visit Cairo! I'd love to hear your impressions of the historic city. I think one of my grandparents was born in Cairo but moved to Aleppo, Syria before emigrating to the Americas. All four grandparents spoke Arabic before learning Spanish as a second language.

Thanks for that! ๐ Like many other states, the contrast of urban vs rural culture in Florida is starkly obvious. When I moved here, I stopped overnight in Daytona Beach. It felt like the Deep South. Arriving in Fort Lauderdale was like crossing into the 6th Borough of New York, as some call it.
