Quietly place one of these on the table right as you sit down in a restaurant.

(uspol) Most accurate car analogy I’ve ever seen

I used a Windows machine recently and it was aggressively toxic. Intrusive ads for paid services, pop-ups to enable this or that useless feature, multiple update nags within 20 minutes. I could not focus on my task. Windows is fully enshittified and I will not use any software that requires it.

A rock solid test setup involving a TP-Link router no longer works (phone rapidly cycles connection). Only change is phone update to iOS 18.3.1. Tested on two TP-Link routers, one running OpenWRT

On certain topics regarding policy changes that hurt people, you will often find a gloating, willfully ignorant response or two. The feeling is EXACTLY like finding a big runny bird poop on your windshield. I want to shorthand this behavior as “birdshitting” from now on.

@paulstoffregen.bsky.social I forgot to report that your postcard did actually find me, thank you very much 😍

the algorithms are definitely picking up my vibe these days

I like MacOS, but felt Microsoft levels of frustration and lack of control when I could not delete that “Image Playground” AI trash that was forced onto my computer.

New Pebble blog post is up with project updates and how developers (you!) can help contribute to Pebble software. Also, here's a picture of open source PebbleOS (thank you Google!!!) running on some actual hardware! ericmigi.com/blog/how-to-...

Trump sets tariffs: “these are good, the manufacturing jobs will come back etc, we voted for this” Trump cancels tariffs: “It was a shrewd bargaining tactic, he got what he wanted.” Why aren’t these people mad the tariffs they wanted were a false campaign promise? What about the manufacturing?

I had purchased a signed copy of Open Circuits at EMSL’s yard sale when they changed careers and moved to the East Coast. It was fascinating to finally see inside the chip Macetech used for the original ChronoDot, seen here with a couple slightly newer variants.

The entire tech industry right now

Looked at Mount Diablo and tried to ping something on it with a tiny Meshtastic device, then went up to the top of the same mountain and tried it the other way (success). Great start to the year!

TIL you can fully disable "Device not ejected properly" messages on MacOS, which happen all the time when you have DFU/UF2 bootloaders (like on the pico): Command here: www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comm...

Are these...radioactive? www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806...

This is a real stretch but I've thought of exactly one tiny potential upside to the looming tariffs. Etsy.

I think that we should crowdsource a spreadsheet of all the hobby electronic parts and gizmos we should order from China immediately. I want to grab anything that will be useful, enough to last a couple years.

Smoke (for 3.5 hours over apple wood) if you got em

I’m not sure what Sony UK was thinking in 2018 with this compilation, but it’s hard to imagine a less appropriate collection for the stated purpose open.spotify.com/album/0LplRI...
