Walking from the National Archives through the yard of the Armoury Museum, Copenhagen.

#caturday because we all need a cute cat in our life. Especially in this day and age.

Disinformation, a way of war making that can be very effective. Way out of my area of expertice but a very good read (and so are the other threads).

Russian disinformation isn’t one tactic. It’s a system of overlapping strategies designed to destabilize, disorient, and divide. It’s called information pollution. And understanding it is step one in resisting it. #InformationWarfare #Disinformation #HybridThreats

The Society for Military History is now archiving historical materials related to military history that are disappearing from federal or state websites. We are open to submissions, anonymously or otherwise. Please see www.smh-hq.org/archivedreso... and note there the submission links.

Tuesday the 9th of April 1940, at 4.00 a.m. a German division of armoured cars and tanks crossed the south frontier of Danmark, without any preliminary notice, and simultaneously German troops were landed in Copenhagen, Gedser, Masnedsund, Korsør, Nyborg, Middelfart, Fredericia, Aarhus, and Esbjerg.

Don't mess with archivists. We keep receipts. "The Danish National Archives holds a ground-breaking document (...) With a single stroke of a pen, the USA accepted that the whole of Greenland was Danish territory". jyllands-posten.dk/indland/ECE1...

#caturday It is cold outside and time to curl up next to the radiator.

The US used to have 50 installations in Greenland. 'America has not kept pace in devoting the resources necessary to keep these bases, US troops and the people of Greenland safe' The abandoned bases are littered with garbage, oil pollution. Denmark pays for cleaning. nyheder.tv2.dk/udland/2019-...

The Pituffik air base or Thule air base (or Dundas) is situated in North West Greenland. Very cold and very dark for half the year. As far as I can see Moriusaq was the nearest settlement (bygd), now deserted.

What if you could spot Kremlin propaganda with a single click? A new AI tool makes that possible — but more importantly, it reveals how propaganda really hides in language. I’m launching a new 7-thread series to break it down. 🧵 #Propaganda #MediaLiteracy

Todays post shows one of the first greenlandic dictionaries. Otho Fabricius was a Danish missionary who lived in the colony of Fredrikshaab in Greenland between 1768 and 1773. A student of missionary Paul Egede who wrot the first dictionary in 1760. Fabricius' grammar was first published in 1791.

Visiting the National Archive. Since the weather was lovely (Denmark standard) I went through the cortyard of the Arsenal Museum and met this wonderful battery of old cannons.
