I am ridiculously lucky in the time and place I presented to the world. Your friend clearly not so. There is no way reason for it.
But putting your friends great misfortunes solely at the feet of at an organisation trying to get elected and run a country, is no explanation of the sad circumstance.

Rich people not wanting to increase wages. And wanting illegal immigrants because they suppress wages. And then they can distract poor people , by blaming the illegal immigrant’s for poor wages.

How do we prevent something like Musk and Twitter again. I donate to Wikipedia. But do not subscribe. How do we make a public square that pays for itself, is accommodating to all sides of political spectrum, and does not become simply a commercial concern.
