That's crazy! I just pulled it up and it was exactly how I remember it. Two guys kinda led him away - couldn't tell if they were friends or foe, but he def wasn't run over. It was on the news so much! How could ppl be that wrong?

Not among ppl old enough to remember it. That footage ran practically on a loop for weeks. College kids had tank man posters on their walls. They might have moved on to the next thing, as ppl do, but I'm pretty sure they'd remember if you brought it up.
