My initial scepticism about that guy was entirely based on the fact that his profile pic and bio lacked any sense of irony.

Years ago I was visiting the Glenbow Museum in Calgary and read one of his letters they had on display. I donât remember the content but I remember thinking that it was amazing that I was looking at his handwriting a century later. Heâs a hero in QuĂŠbec too.

Beefing with another Black man within the boundaries set by white owners, at a white elite annual orgy of excess, in front of the white supremacist-in-chief is not transgressive. Itâs safe. Safe verging on collaborationist. Itâs bread and circuses. This guy refused to obey though.

Williams, also Canadian, was the first US based physician to treat a patient with insulin obtained in Canada. He was a consultant to the pharmaceutical firm, Eli Lilly which reached an agreement with U of Toronto to scale up mass production of insulin as Connaught Labs had reached its limit.

You could have said that. Instead you implied credit where credit is not due. Very American of you.

The NIH had zero to with the discovery and development of insulin. It was discovered and purified in Canada at the University of Toronto. The team of four was led by Sir Frederick Banting.

Weaker. People were sick of Trudeau but his main opponent is personally unpopular. The front runner to replace Trudeau ran the central banks of Canada and England. Check Mark Carneyâs appearance on Colbert.

Arenât the communities that marry and have more children than average mostly immigrant communities? Sounds like an opportunity for malicious compliance.

I visited at 13, 43 years ago, on a class trip. It felt like I was committing a grave sin each time I set a foot on the ground as I walked through the place. Heâs devoid of humanity.

Thereâs a news article that reports on how Christian congregants are challenging their ministers for talking about âwokeâ stuff in their sermons. The âwokeâ stuff? Things Jesus said.

At my old gym I changed next to a trans woman all the time. We had the same gym schedule and gravitated to that part of the locker room. I knew because I notice details. I didnât care because she behaved like 99% of women in locker rooms: changed quickly, checked face and hair and got on with it.

My father grew up in Montreal, born 8 years later. He said that fire is why exit doors push outwards now. He also said that there was live theatre performances for kids when he was growing up in place of the cinema.

They were going to be here no matter what, but we have the advantage of recognizing them now and not engaging. The level of discourse here is still good as a result.

I had two women evangelicals proselytize while we were waiting to see our oncologists. Not the place. So I said with a smile, âI think all religions have the same message: donât be an asshole.â They werenât sure if I was sincere or talking about them, so they left me alone after that. đ

Or improve the entire education system and make it free and equal quality from early childhood to doctorate. 54% of Usaians read below grade 6 level. That the richest planet on earth has so many functionally illiterate people is appalling.

Errrr, thatâs not how Parliament works or what he said. The government must introduce a bill that is a subject of confidence. Thatâs usually a spending bill such as the budget. Then the House votes and if itâs defeated, the government falls. Did you not learn this in high school?

FYI, many Montreal boroughs do this. It started as a pilot the first pandemic summer to get people to gather safely. Now itâs a beloved part of summer. Sections of nine streets are car-free from June to October
