Incredible. #AI

I don't want to hear about your lost loves, tell me about the restaurant food that haunts you because you'll never be able to taste it again

Just heard someone say “he sounds like he spends a lot of time on Facebook” and hooo boy everyone’s immediate understanding of what that means should be a brand crisis for Meta

It's a high bar, but this from @radleybalko.bsky.social might be one of the most fucked up things I've read in the new Trump era. For context, this TX lawyer had just had an informal conversation with a family caught up in ICE raids. Seriously. Read this. radleybalko.substack.com/p/the-courag...

Did you know there's a Native kids show on Netflix? Did you know its for *everyone*, cause most adults are at a preschool-level of familiarity with Indigenous people here? Did you know that show just got nominated for a Peabody?! 😍 Then go watch "Spirit Rangers" on Netflix NOW! 😊

This story is kinda insane and so well reported. Really great job writing for an audience who may not be technologists but still need to understand the concern.

me to the united states: this could be us but you playin’

Not me googling to see if that's real, and...yup. @noaa.gov, explain yourself! 😆

Never forget, if you design a city for cars, it fails for everyone, including drivers. If you design a multi-modal city that makes walking, biking & public transit attractive options, it works better for everyone, including drivers. INCLUDING DRIVERS. The “war on cars” has always been a lie.

This is my first Bluesky post. But I am happy to be here to talk about the cause of a lifetime. To shine a light on the experiences of those forced to flee, and of those whose exile ends. To tell you about the work of courageous colleagues, at UNHCR and beyond.

Columbia Journalism Review tested eight generative AI search tools and found their answers were wrong 60% of the time, and the paid ones actually fared worse than the free ones. Meanwhile, millions of people trust the way they present total bullshit with confident language.

Pretty good example, because it's so easy-to-understand, of how modern journalism is broken. Whether it's lack of bandwidth, lack of training... doesn't really inspire confidence for when the stakes are higher.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

Saved the country not even 20 years after gaining citizenship and now are called DEI hires. Native Americans have served in every American conflict, including side by side with colonists in the Revolutionary War, at a higher rate per capita than any other group

ONE PERSON is responsible for a huge # of book challenges in SC. ONE PERSON is responsible for 40% of book challenges in FL. (His name is Bruce.) A single voice absolutely makes a difference. Use yours and raise it for good. For god's sake, are you going to let fucking Bruce run the show?!

Research from 2022 that every Democrat apologist should chew on: “We do not find any evidence that accommodative strategies reduce radical right support. If anything, our results suggest that they lead to more voters defecting to the radical right.“ www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Will never not be mad that this wasn't high-speed rail.

Just finished reading Carmageddon, and it's unfortunate we've designed our lives to require cars because electric won't save us.

I'm still mostly skeptical toward any use of #AI, for a variety of reasons, but this one looks promising? www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Sharing this re: Sugarcane and the “No Other Land” Oscar win. This was the teams acceptance speech, as well as reaction to that documentary’s win, made by Indigenous TV. Feels important to share here too 🪶

Apart from the cruelty it takes to send a notice like this at midnight on a Friday night, the loss of 18F is a loss for the American people.

i have something to admit that's been weighing heavy on my heart: when i said "no worries" what i actually meant was "i have many worries all the time and this is but a drop in the ocean"

When you cut a contract that is 1/2 done, not only are you not saving $, you are WASTING $. Say you spend $600k to renovate your house, but 1/2 through you cancel the project. You already paid $400k, and your house is unlivable. Did you save $600k? No. You wasted $400k & can’t live in your house.

This one really hurts. www.washingtonpost.com/entertainmen...

(1/4) Recent layoffs of federal workers has a disproportionate impact on Native Americans, but is receiving almost no media attention. In Indian Health Services, which provides healthcare to 2.8 mil NAs, 2,200 people were laid off, including 1,400 who provide direct patient care.

Allegory alert!

Happy #ValentinesDay to Native Hawai'ians only thebigsmoke.com.au/2022/02/14/f... Hau’oli La Ho’omake ia Kapena Kuke!

this is a huge story for so many reasons. here in the midwest, local news outlets need to be chasing down stories on how farmers, ag groups & big state school ag programs are being impacted.

Happy Anniversary to my tribe. On February 3, 1838 the "Treaty with the Oneidas" was signed between #Oneida Nation, Ho-Chunk and Menominee tribes to give my displaced ancestors a place to call home in Northeast #Wisconsin where we remain to this day. wisconsinfirstnations.org/oneida-nation

This is just gut wrenching.
