I was a free-roaming latchkey kid in the 80s that wanted to watch Thundercats and Fraggle Rock. Alpha Centauri came along in 1999 when I could stay up all night playing it and nobody could tell me not to!

Nick Cave, without hesitation.

Cool Ranch always reminds me of going to the beach at Dam Neck in Virginia Beach in the late 80s/90s, because that's what we packed in the cooler, and whenever I eat them now, I instinctively expect a hint of sand and Coppertone in the flavor crust.

We're going to offer TSA services soon and the background check I had to complete was very similar.

Thanks for the heads up - I've got a paper copy from 1993 that's been read to pieces like the Velveteen Rabbit, and a digital copy is just the thing to keep it from falling apart any further.

PSB did a signing with NG at Balticon in 2005. I’d already met NG before and was a fan, but I was more excited to meet PSB and have him sign my 25+ yr old copy of The Last Unicorn that had been read to pieces like the Velveteen Rabbit.

Phantasmagoria by Roberta Williams. I can still hum most of “Consumite Furore” from memory.

The first time I played that, I spent too much time dicking around and didn’t realize there was a timer to finish the entire game until it ran out towards the end right when I went into the mountain.

Just wait til politics/racism topics pop up, and you'll see. While a lot of us stayed cool, there is a ton of "I got mine so fuck the rest of you" going on, and I'm interested to see if the younger Xers (me) start doing the same thing in the next 5-10 years, and if the millennials do as well.

If you hang out in the Gen X subreddit long enough, you'll see it.

Oh, it was peak Con fashion for sure, I wore one at some point that week as well! The memory just makes me smile.

The last time I went to a WorldCon (2006?), I saw GRR Martin on a chair surrounded by women in corsets.

I encountered their perfume for the first time at Heathrow a couple months ago, and the bottles are even worse - all of them have glass animal heads for caps that are even harder to open than that round bulb.

I don't trace, but I grid. You still need skill to fill in the squares; it just helps me get the essentials in the right spot.
