#Cyclista #GreenParty, #lResearchLibraryActivista #AEUP #DiamondOpenAccess. The climb to a more inclusive, fair, decolonialised and self-governed scholarly system is steep. But the vista is great, it’s worth the effort. http://orcid.org/0000-0001-8246-8210

@dbeucke.bsky.social proves once again he is „Master of the Myriad Genres of Texts“. If you enjoy smart deconstruction of debatable concepts such as MAGA, then #76 from NASJ is for you. All typesetting done with templates from @sciflow.bsky.social

If you believe competition drives innovation then analyse who benefits from competition. In scholarly communication its for sure not research communities benefitting but commercial vendors providing competition tools. Real innovation emerges in playful collaboration & trust, not out of fear to lose

As a non-native speaker two english terms describing people stuck with me due to their sharpness. ”Throwing his weight around“ and ”loose cannon“ Both terms come to my mind frequently these days. The person in question is a disgraceful example of both. I add ”unhinged“ to my active vocabulary 👍

Seems distortions & injustices due to biased research assessment are perceived as extremly pressing issues. Even when presenting on how to improve metadata for #DiamondOpenAccess or built up a registry for DOA journals, sooner or later question comes up about dominance of the 2 commercial systems

👍 preprints shouldn‘t be considered as incomplete versions of journal articles, imitating their reviewing processes. I see them as open contributions to the scholarly discourse at large. Preliminary findings, unfiltered voices, new ideas. They need a base of trust but stand their in their own right.

The other problem with this definition is it constrains preprints to look like journal articles. I'm concerned talk about preprints is already too focused on how we evaluate them, and not enough on what possibilities they open up. Some recent thoughts from our team: blogs.lse.ac.uk/impactofsoci...

Read this please. While freedom on such weighty choices is something we ought to seek, jointly. But what is the freedom to leave this world in ones right worth if we place it into miserable settings? Yes yes to all your suggestions like improving palliative care before offering legal assisted dying,

#GöttingenUniversityPress As an open access press we usually don‘t use social media to market printed books. However, this one is a bibliophilic exception, I bought our own book yesterday evening. I want to own the haptic manifestation of free knowledge doi.org/10.17875/gup... and happily pay 42 €

Recently evaluated ~300 Open Access Journals for uptake into #DiamondDiscoveryHub, developped by #CRAFTOA. So much (visual) variety possible with OJS, and yet several ambitious journals w handwritten platforms as technological backbone. Preservation of platform and of content will be huge challenge

How on earth could anyone pass through a PhD process without being highly motivated? Or is that a euphemism for „be ready to receive less supervision and more pressure than acceptable“?
