My Irish ancestors were poets. They had the power to rhyme a king to death by writing satirical poems about them.

I always advise people who travel to Ireland researching their ancestors - 3 people who know everyone in town: the priest, the publican & the mailman.

Ice storm yesterday. 60 mph winds today. I’m 78 with osteoporosis & my driveway is a sheet of ice. Who knows what the sidewalk in front of City Hall would be like. It’s never cleared very well. Walking 3 blocks on icy sidewalks will be dangerous.

One caution when citing data from Bibles. Sometimes the information was added decades after the events. Look for the publication date of the Bible; examine if the entries are in different inks & handwriting. If the writing is in the same hand & ink, they were all written at one time.

The article states the employees were not laid off from the university, but given other positions. The project was not disbanded, but outsourced.

I buy the book, read it, and then donate it to our local library.

My Murphy ancestral home in Rahalisk, Macroom was a 9x12 stone cabin with no chimney, no windows & a sod roof. It was still standing because the big farmer later turned it into a pig sty.

I remember when many Irish undocumented immigrants came to the Boston area in the 1980s. Some women were abused by bosses & boyfriends who threatened to report them to Immigration if they complained. Feds would raid Irish bars & businesses in Boston.

OTOH, with a population of 40.1 million, the theoretical state of Canada would be larger than California or Texas. It would likely tip the House & Senate to the Democrats. I don’t think he has thought this through.

So, we see the traffic has decreased, has the number of people on public transportation increased, or are people just staying away?

Where do people go to access books, such as genealogies, local histories & international books?
