If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

Also, place holds! If a book has a long hold list, the library system may order more copies. This also goes for books that are already on order.

The books I have donated are sold and the money then goes into the library budget
when it happened at one library system, I thought it might have been a quirk, but I have encountered this in Florida and Georgia, so it started to seem like a wide spread policy

If you want an actual dead tree book, get yourself a library card and borrow or hold the book online through your library’s reservation system.

In memory of parents, aunts, uncles, friends I have given a variety of books, DVD, CDs to the local Library in memory of those people.
What I can’t afford is the increase in Homeowners and Auto Insurance.
