kind of incredible to me that no one wants to be a john quincy adams

I really have to use "Colbert Situation" more often. Can think of so many applications. #UglyDogs

President Trump's executive order to eliminate the Institute of Museum & Library Services would have disastrous effects for communities nationwide. We call on all Americans who value reading & learning to reach out to their elected leaders. Read ALA's full response: www.ala.org/news/2025/03...

Beware the Ides of March.

Last one. Baby zebra is just learning about oxpeckers and he's not a fan

Like others, I read my first Shakespeare in high school. The teacher encouraged us to participate during Julius Ceasar by "threatening" him- Beware the Ides and all that. We got creative. While in college, I randomly remembered this... (1/)

A story about Zeke, the rescue dog who inspired ReRun Kennel. Written by Kailyn Olnes #MusherSky mushing.com/kennel/the-s...

Mac's a mensch and he knows that I can't resist a good opportunity to match something. So, here it is, I will match whatever Mac ends up doing (this way he does the math) but I will split it between the ReRun GFM and the Igivarod. So both funds win a little. Ready, Set, Go! #mushersky #uglydogs

Thanks to Mac, Espy, the Igivearod team, and everyone who joins in, a wonderful surprise will be waiting for when they raise their heads. A tradition to celebrate indeed.

Watched Paige Drobny come into White Mountain and the squids were bopping along. Learned the sea ice has extra friction-y sections, making for slower speeds. At least the blowhole is not blowing. They've certainly had a lot of different snow conditions this year. #MusherSky

Friends, when I, a Ph.D. in this field, post "I study this and I am still baffled," it is not an invitation for you, a person who has thought about this problem for seven and a half seconds, to guess the first thing that pops into your head as if it is useful insight.

I still feel, and will remember, the continuing flood of goodness feeding through keyboards around the world to very specific dots on the Yukon. I'm so proud of them. For solving problems. For getting stronger. (1/2) #UglyDogs

My favorite bookshop in Portland is giving away free samples. Heh.

Seems like a big deal? Back pay and return plans. www.usda.gov/about-usda/n...

I know the frustration of fighting invasive plants and animals just in the yard. As a country, we need these protectors. 🌱 "The most significant pest that Ulmer handled was the Asian citrus psyllid. [...] the insect carries a plant disease that has devastated Florida’s iconic citrus industry."

Totally blew some students' minds last week with the fact that Bluetooth was named after King Harald Bluetooth who united the tribes of Denmark into a single kingdom (bc Bluetooth technology connects devices) AND the Bluetooth symbol is a bind rune that combines his initials, H (ᚼ) and B (ᛒ).

Sorry again for the quick grabs. Gotta head out. Pls see Jeems for Q interview. I don't know him personally, but for me, having tasks to complete and others (esp. dogs) to take care of helps me get through. I hope this experience may do the same for as long as they choose to have it. #UglyDogs

Tale of two checkpoints. Kaltag incoming teams excited and feel good about energies and speeds. Eagle Island teams talk about how difficult that stretch is. Michelle Phillips said she was thinking about what it is going to be like for the rookies. (1/2) #MusherSky #Iditarod53

Two new things learned this year: 1) Drag kennels so dogs can rotate rest while on the move. The idea being- Riding the mat to conserve overall energy still means all dogs are pulling, just with higher resistance. Plus musher is using energy. (1/2) #MusherSky

People (parents) bitch about the time change but I say EVERY weekend should have a bonus hour added to it. “You can’t just add an hour every week without consequences, stupid.” You can if every Wednesday loses the hour of 3-4 PM, NOW WHO’S STUPID

Talked to National Park Service and Forest Service workers, including a ranger and biologist, about what visitors could be losing without them: “I worry about a lot more injuries happening." www.huffpost.com/entry/fired-...
