Ooh. This is also my first paper where I’ve used R exenstively in the research - even if the heavy lifting was done by Martin in Python.

A final point I’d like to mention is that we find that this is more likely to be a result of market logics rather than the various distinctiveness provisions in the countries PSM policies.

All PSM catalogues, including those in the UK, a significant amount of content that does not travel. This indicates that they do make/comission content that is targeted towards specifically to their domestic audiences.

Non-commerical PSM outside of the UK are also less reliant on returning seasons and theatrical films, which could indicate more risk-taking.

In Scandinavia domestic productions are almost exclusively found in PSM catalogues, and non-commercial PSMs are particularly important for domestic childrens programming across the countries.

In this article we use data from lumierevod.obs.coe.int and public IMDb data to examine if and how the VoD catalogues of PSMs in Scandinavia, UL and Germany are distinct from their competitors. The short answer is «yes».

That is a very interesting idea! The only thing that comes to mind is a study on films submitted to «Amandus», Norwegian kids film festival. The resarchers found that technical skills improved with digtialization - but not the storytelling. (From memory - I can find it later.)

Turning Time Around She says, What do you call love Well I call it Harry Oh, please I'm being serious What do you call love Well I don't call it family and I don't call it lust And as we all know marriage isn't a must And I suppose in the end, it's a matter of trust If I had to I'd call love time

It's always the oddest feeling to be reading a paper and come across a sentence or paragraph and think "wait, they're saying this exactly the way I would...gosh that sounds a lot like my voice, my cadence, my turn of a phrase....oh, wait, no...I remember writing this!"

I later accidentally reread it without rembering that I had graded it before, and started noticing that a lot of sentences seemed very familiar. And then I realized that almost all of the paper was directly cut and translated from my thesis. Not sure I would have caught this in an LLM era.

A couple of years back I was grading papers and one struck me as very poorly written and also far to much relaint on a single soure - even if that source was my thesis. I gave it a poor, but passing grade.

My little brother, @dustopi.bsky.social is always great at the table. Partially because he loves to play slightly stupid fighters with a big heart that always get the story moving in some way or other.

Jeg liker Across the Great Divide fra 2002 veldig godt - men det er to helt jævlige låter på den. Nærmere bestemt duettene med Kid Rock og Brian McKnight.
